Putting a New Battery in my Roadfire 15 portable guitar amp

Needed to replace the battery in my old Alesis Roadfire 15 portable guitar amp. Had to disassemble the front face, remove the front control panel, and take off the side trim and pull the front grill off, then remove the speaker.

The battery is held in with a wood plate with four screws, easy to remove.

The battery shows up on the internet as available in a lot of places.

Look for the P212/72 designation. But I also went to my local NAPA auto supply house, they had a suitable replacement in stock.

They are the same size.

I'm considering modifying the case to be able to directly load in a replacement battery via an access panel in the back of the case. If I do that, I'll post some pix here on how I did it.

  • Hello,

Wow, I haven't seen this speaker in years. This was one of our portable legacy Alesis speakers. Information on this discontinued legacy speaker is going to be very limited so if you have any further questions, we'll do our best to help you out. Thanks for posting this. Good luck with the modification!

  • I've played Hawaiian style (slack key) at beach events fairly often, family gatherings, often where there is no power....
Started with a Fender AmpCan, but when I found this little beauty, I grabbed it. Replacing the battery every couple of years gets to be a PITA, so am considering an access plate in the back, it would be much better then taking the speaker apart each time. This amp case is very solidly built, I love it!!!

Too bad it's been long discontinued, I guess they didn't sell a lot of them, there doesn't seem to be many of them around, although I see one occasionally on eBay.

Alesis did a great job on this amp, mine functions perfectly after all these years, even when the battery dies, as long as I can plug it in....

  • Got a buzzing in my Alesis Roadfire 15 that just showed up, happens if it's on the battery or plugged in, and doesn't respond to the volume control or any of the other controls. Looking for a schematic or other info on what might be causing this and how to fix it. Any ideas?

The battery I put in a year or so ago is holding up well, so far, and cutting a "door" for easy access to the battery, is still on the "to do" list....

  • It's been over a year since I replaced the battery, still haven't modified the case for easier battery access, but it's on the "to do" list....
The amp has developed a buzz though, and it's there when it's plugged in or when it's on the battery, either way, so it's not from the ac charge system, I'm pretty sure. And the buzz does not respond to the volume control or any of the other controls. Looking for a schematic or some way to troubleshoot this buzz,
    Any ideas?
