Samplepad 4 noisy line output / adapter.

Samplepad 4 noisy line output / adapter.
Tried changing adapters but my universal 1A adapter is even noisier. With other adapters it won't even boot up (I tried a onespot with polarity reversed as well as other adapters (600mA, doesn't work).
Why is it so picky on adapters and why are the line outputs noisy (low hum independent of output volume)? The headphones output doesn't have this issue by the way.

  • Hi Peter,

    Thanks for posting.

In order for your SamplePad 4 to be powered properly if you're in the US, you will need to be using a 9V DC 500MmA, 110V power supply.

Is your SamplepPad 4 connected directly to the wall, or are you connected to a surge protector? If you're using a surge protector, make sure that it isn't being overloaded. If you have other devices connected to the surge protector that require a lot of power (like a computer, for example), try moving those peripherals to another outlet. • Are there alternative power suppliers? I'm based in Australia. Is it possible that your Australian batch is affected by the issue as a whole?
I recently returned two units and my supplier mentioned that his whole stock is affected... It takes an awfully long for such an issue to be addressed by a manufacturer.

  • I have tested two different Alesis Samplepad 4 at two different stores in sweden. Both had the noise problem from the output jacks. Haven`t you at Alesis found a solution for this. I really liked the product but with this noise it is useless and I can not buy it like this.

I think that it is very strange that you at Alesis havent found a solution for this problem. I really liked the product but with this noise it is useless and I can not buy it like that.

In this video the same noise is presented and it seems that even the replacement product have the noise.

  • I purchased this unit as I met my requirements, unfortunately the noise is a problem to point that I cant use it live.
I tried an experiment and replaced the powersupply with 9v DC battery source just to see if the noise reduced.. , and the majority of the noise disappeared - far better. So IMO, the unit does have bad power supply filter internally , however if you can get a clean quality 9DC power supply source then this will help addressing the noise.
