Samplepad and SamplePad Pro Invalid Sample Formats

Hi.
Just got a new samplepad.
Downloaded sample and loop Library from the site.
Majority of sounds state "invalid format"....tried several card and other obvious show stoppers...
What am I doing wrong?? Or are the samples in the Library unsupported?

Thanx

  • Hello Jens,

Thanks for posting. I'd like to help! If you have difficulty loading a particular sample file, it may be that...

    1. The sample being used is not in the correct format.

    2. The supported file type is 16 Bit Mono WAV. 48, 44.1, 32, and 22 kHz sample rates are supported.

    3. (Mac users only) The SamplePad is seeing Invisible Files Created by the Macintosh OS.

    Solutions

    * Ignore the invisible files, and skip over them when looking for samples to load from the card.
    * Use a Windows PC to load the files. The invisible files will not be created on a PC.
    * Use a Windows PC to delete the invisible files created by the Mac.
    * Use a free utility such as CleanDisk for Mac to remove the invisible files on the card from your Mac.

  • Hi.
    Thx for reply.
Still have problems. Tried to convert "invalid format" files in the free Conversion tool.
I believed the sounds in the Alesis Sound Library was 16 bit mono wav.
Keep in mind I`m new at this. How about the Alesis sample converter. Will that resolve the issue?
I have not tried any other samples but the one I downloaded from the Alesis site.
    Thx again.

  • Thx again :-)
I`ll give it a try, but it sounds kinda funny when you download a sample library for Alesis Sample pad...it can`t be used for samplepad. After all...it is just to dump the sounds on the root of an empty card and play on the pad. But only a few work. I hope you don't have to own a samplepad pro to get it working?!?!?
And the Alesis sample converter did not help me one bit with the problem...

Trying to load samples on to the samplepad Pro should it be this difficult??
Downloaded samples that alesis provide for the sample pad pro and even these don't work.
Tried reformatting them using a audio convertor suggested by Alesis on one of there threads this doesn't work either.
Really annoyed now starting to think i should have paid a bit more for a Roland Spds.
Wanted to use this for rehearsal tomorrow so i am gutted, and it would be nice to get a human response rather than a copy and paste response.
This process should be simple not a complex process.
Is there a limit on the size of a sample per kit piece? can you use any size sample if your coming of the card?
I am using Cubase 6.5 to save my wave files and your alesis converter to convert them before copying to the SD card,i am using a higher firmware 1.0.18.

  • Thanks Chris I sent the Sample Pad back as it was pretty much unusable for what I wanted, all that trouble to load a sample of your own the whole point of the Sampled I assume.
    Saving for a Spds instead.

the problem is the sample what i have not worki

What do you mean by this? Can you please provide me with some more information?

The samples files must be 16-bit, mono or stereo .WAV files with a sample rate of 48K, 44.1K, 32K, 22.05K, or 11.025K.

      • The .WAV file must be located in the root (main) directory of the card and not in any folders.
      • We recommend formatting your SD card to a FAT32 file system (if it is not already) and naming your sample files according to this format. Basically, this means:
        • Do not use these characters: " * / \ : < > ? |
        • Do not use spaces.
        • Limit your file name to 8 characters (excluding the file extension, ".WAV").
      • You can assign up to 48 MB worth of samples per kit (the sample library on your SD card can be larger, of course). Also, please note that a sample's size will be rounded up when loaded (e.g., a 2.1 MB sample on the SD card will be treated as a 3 MB sample when it is assigned to a pad).
      • The max number of files that can be located in the root directory is 512.

  • I learned that the samplepad did not hack many samples. The samplepad pro accepted more samples. I don't know if I step on Alesis toes here, but samplepad was almost useless due to so few samples could be used. Even the one I pushed through the tool Alesis have on their page. The samplepad pro was better. I have managed to use a lot of different samples found online. I use it on many gigs. After a while I understood the importance of having the samples in correct size (refer to the manual and use the tool on Alesis web page)

Ich mochte das Samplepad nicht. Also bin ich zu Samplepadpro gewechselt. Das hat besser funktioniert.
