SamplePad Pro not Recognizing SD Card Info/ Not Recognizing Firmware Update.

My SamplePad Pro will not recognize the firmware update or the samples I loaded from the Alesis site. I have done everything according to the instructions. Do I need to run the sample files through the smaple converter before uplosding to the SD Card? Thanks! Mike D.

  • Hi Mike,

    Thanks for posting.

What is the size of the SD card you're using? The SamplePad Pro will function as expected with most major brand SD or SDHC cards with a capacity of up to 32 GB in size.  The audio files must be located on the root directory of the card and not in any folders. Additionally, the samples files must be 16-bit, mono or stereo .WAV files with a sample rate of 48K, 44.1K, 32K, 22.05K, or 11.025K.
    • The .WAV file must be located in the root (main) directory of the card and not in any folders.
    • We recommend formatting your SD card to a FAT32 file system (if it is not already) and naming your sample files according to this format. Basically, this means:
      • Do not use these characters: " * / \ : < > ? |
      • Do not use spaces.
      • Limit your file name to 8 characters (excluding the file extension, ".WAV").
    • You can assign up to 48 MB worth of samples per kit (the sample library on your SD card can be larger, of course). Also, please note that a sample's size will be rounded up when loaded (e.g., a 2.1 MB sample on the SD card will be treated as a 3 MB sample when it is assigned to a pad).
    • The max number of files that can be located in the root directory is 512.

Using the File Converter Utility will ensure your files are formatted properly to be played on your SamplePad Pro. If you haven't already done so, you can download this from the product page, below:

  • Bill, thank you for your quick response. I spoke with Matt at Alesis and he was great. I did fix the issue and it was of course user error. I thought I had the files directly on the root directory of the SD card but there was in fact a master folder that they were stored in. Once I eliminated the folder the unit read the files and I've now uploaded about 500 samples and loops. I'm a working drummer in Las Vegas and this product along with my TD-30 and acoustic set-up should be perfect. Thanks again! Mike D.

  • This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled SD Card Errors.

Why won't my Sample Pad Pro recognize my SD Card? I've formatted it to FAT32. All files are WAV files. Keep getting an SD Card error. Anyone run into this? Any way for the pad to just pull from my laptop?

  • I have submitted my request for support and no one has called me back. I'm getting frustrated. I tried doing every single thing I have seen mentioned in forums and my unit still says unable to read card. I have a gig coming up and can't use this instrument.
