Strike Multipad has several issues?

Hello.

Alesis Strike Multipad is fantastic drum sampler and has a potential to beat any other similar product on the market but I have some serious issues with my unit, bought just few days ago in US.
Please help to solve ASAP. Until then it is quite useless.
PS: There is no computer involved.

Crosstalk issue.
It happens right within the first kit and between random pads. Even a pad which is completely switched off (no sound A or B) will still trigger another pad with any threshold setting.
There seem to be no settings to avoid this failure and it will ruin all sounds and operation with this kit.

Latency.
There is noticeable latency on playing over pre recorded loops.
In drumming such mistake is not acceptable.
PS: There is no computer involved.

Looper latency is also too long for several layers, even second leyer is problematic.

Display will hang and all operation will stop time to time.

Too long time for Kit loading.
This is annoying, especially in live situation. What can be done?

Missing “back” button.
No big deal but it would help a lot in navigation.

Is there some sort of Wave manager available or in development?

I cannot find anything about these issues in user manual or Alesis webpage.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for posting.

It sounds like the pad you are hitting is most likely “grouped” with another pad in the preset you are using.

This is an overview of the “Pad Groups.” - CLICK HERE

If you want this pad to stop triggering others, select the pad and go to “Pad View.” At the bottom you will see a “group” option. Click on that and you will “sync group.” Click on it and select “Off.” Now this pad will not be tied to any other pad on the preset.

With regards to the latency and kit loading times you'd mentioned, samples can be loaded to each layer of the 9 pads. If you have samples assigned to each layer of all of the pads, it will take some time for these samples to be loaded into the memory of the MultiPad.

We do not currently have a sample editor available for the MultiPad, but I have submitted this to my team as a feature request for you.

  • Hi Bill,

My Strike Multipad, which I have yet to use live, as planned, has had a glitch since day one. I purchased the Strike Multipad several months back just after it first came available at GC. The purpose was for live performance for my full time music touring show. I want to use the Strike primarily for triggering full stereo backing tracks and loops. Unfortunately due to a glitch where, after loading several wav samples, then entering into the START/END Edit feature, it works for a couple wavs then begins to glitch out and cease from working at all on any other samples. In START/EDIT mode the machine re-draws the wav form over and over. Last night I updated to the new firmware, 1.2, then reset to factory settings and loaded up some 3-4 minute loops. And the START/END feature in the EDIT function worked on 2 to 3 wav files but then began to glitch out again, rendering the START/EDIT feature permanently inoperable. It does NOT happen on the same file. All files are 44.1/16 I have not been able to use the STRIKE Multipad live, as planned, so I had to resort back to using 2 Roland SPD-SX pads. I have attached two photos showing that in edit mode, START/STOP, it draws the wav form all the way then it appears half, then tries to re-draw and over and over that cycle goes without my touching the machine :( I would really love to get the Strike working properly. Any advice? Thank you!
