Strike Multipad Quantize is a MUST

I'm not a Drummer but can play reasonably in time. That being said, I must quantize my playing when looping. Not having that feature might cause me to return this unit for a refund. Will this happen anytime soon?

  • From what I can tell the issue of NO Quantization will not be resolved anytime soon. This is a serious oversight IMHO. Instead of waiting for a solution I am going to return this unit for a refund.
    Problem solved.
    • Quantisation only makes sense at a Midi-Sequenzer. In a Wave-Sampler this is no way. Therefor use pre-reccorded Midi-Songs/melodies to remotely Control the strike-multipad an then Reccord the Wave-file. Then it is perfectly in Time. This is the way I did it eitv my rolandSPDsx. And will do it wir the strike-multipad as well
    • I only meant during live looping, having quantisation applied to the internal sounds triggered from the units pads or triggers, so that when they playback within the loop they are ‘gridded’ to the chosen subdivision - a pretty standard feature for every drum machine and sequencer, and one that was included on the SPDS. Obviously applying this to sounds that are recorded in to the unit during looping, or even recorded in sample mode, would be much more complicated.

  • Hi Rick,

    Thanks for posting.

I do not have an ETA of when or if this will be available. All updates and announcements will be posted on the website when they become available. I will be happy to submit this to my software team as a feature request for you.

  • I already returned it. If Quantizing is added I'll consider buying it again.

  • I am keen on buying the unit as soon as it arrives, but I’m also disappointed by the lack of the quantize feature. While the looper on the Roland SPDS was primitive, it’s quantize function did allow me to use it like a drum machine, playing in patterns instead of programming them. This should be one of those first changes/updates that you consider making to the Strike Multipad , which in every other way looks like an amazing piece of gear.

  • I’m frustrated
I have the same frustration with the fact that such a seemingly obvious feature is not included. I’m okay at keeping time but I’m sensitive to subtle nuanced timing issues and having the quantize feature would be imperative to me.

I’m also frustrated that there is no option for time stretching the samples so that when pitching samples up or down, the timing doesn’t change. Will this option be added eventually?

The 3rd and final frustration that I have with the Strike Multipad is the sensitivity of the upper right pad. It’s not responding to every hit unless I hit it very firmly with a stick and even then it’s not 100%. I have the sensitivity turned all the way up and the threshold set to zero.

The unit itself seems very well built and has so many good things going for it, it’s just a shame these issues will cause me to have to return the unit and that is frustrating. If the unit was $400, I could cope with the missing options and the pad issues, but at the current price, I expect a bit more I’m sorry to say. :(

  • I’m sad
Even basic quantise would change this unit completely. If I have a tempo based sample and hit it slightly out of time then it doesn't play along with the rest of the track in a live situation.
For live playback quantise is a must.
Until it is implemented I won't buy this otherwise great machine.
