I’m Very Angry and Annoyed

Strike Pro Kit mesh heads are torn

I bought my Strike Pro kit in July 2017 from a distributor in the UK.
After only 2 weeks of moderate use, the mesh head on the snare drum ripped through.
I replaced it with a triple ply remo mesh head, then a week later the drum stopped working only producing a sound if you hit the rubber rim.
The same also happend to the 14" rack tom.
I removed the mesh heads in both to find the thin red and black wires that connect to the centre sensor had snapped clean in half.
I sent the drums back to be repaired, 6 weeks later I received them back, used the kit for 2 days the the snare drum failed again!!
Sent the drum back this time for replacement for a brand new one, just received a new one 4 weeks later.. plugged the snare into the kit this morning and after only 5 minutes of very light playing the same thing happened!!!
The red wire had snapped away from it's soldering on the small circuit board.
I can't believe after spending over £2000 on this kit to practice on at home as I'm a semi pro drummer for 20 years, it's spent more time gathering dust waiting for replacement parts than actually being used for what it's purpose..A DRUM KIT!!!

I will be waiting for another replacement snare and the immediately selling the whole kit to get my money back as I can't get a refund due to the kit being used.
I've always regarded Alesis as a really good manufacturer of decent affordable musical equipment but I'm sorry to say this has ruined it for me!!
Has anyone else had problems like this with their kit?
Thanks

Wow, lots of us have had problems but yours sounds like something is really wrong. Here's a suggestion..... If you paid by Visa card it would be worthwhile contacting them as all purchases with visa are insured against 'not fit for purpose' and they may refund you!
I've been noticing that a number of us who have been having problems are now beginning to get things sorted at last. That said the problems I'm referring to aren't the same as yours. Good luck sorting it out.

  • Thanks for the reply, sadly I purchased mine via the V12 finance option from the store.

  • Hi Michael,

Thanks for posting. Sorry you're having issues with your Strike Pro Kit.

Please keep in mind that electronic drums should be played a little differently than acoustic drums. The pads on electronic drums are more sensitive than your typical acoustic drum heads. That being said, if your style of playing is normally at a '10', you will want to dial this back to about '7' or '8'. Striking the pads hard with a lot of force is a guaranteed way for the pads to become damaged in this manner.

Given the symptoms you're experiencing, it sounds like your product may need to be serviced. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum, but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the Alesis Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu.

    or

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office or International Distributor.

Make sure to reference or link this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hey Bill, maybe your 'lab-test' guys should use less aggro drummers than Derek Roddy to demo the Strike kit! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZAli...
