Terrible sound through aux in - Nitro module.

When playing music either from phone music player or ipod, the music sound is garbled, some sounds missing or delayed, and as someone else described, sounds like its under water. Have reset factory settings and have tried three different aux cables, no difference. Also kick pad is too quiet. Have adjusted all as per recommendations, but cant get it so that i can hear it properly. I like to hear the bass drum. What else can i do? This is a brand new kit, and i really enjoy it apart from these rwo irritating problems.

  • Hi Mark,

Thanks for posting. Sorry you're having issues with your Nitro Kit.

Try moving the cable connection around and seeing if the sound changes at all. Do you experience these output issues through speakers, headphones, or both? Can you post an image of the cable you're using?

As far as the issue you're experiencing with your kick pad, have you tried adjusting your utility settings? This will allow you to customize your pad's settings. See below:

    To adjust the Utility settings

    1. Hit the pad whose settings you want to adjust, or press its corresponding Pad Select button.

    2. Press Utility, then press Page/Select until the desired setting appears in the display:

    • SEN (Pad sensitivity): Controls how responsive a pad is when you hit it. The higher the value, the less forcefully you need to play to generate a loud hit.

    • THR (Pad threshold): Controls how forcefully you have to hit the pad to generate a sound. The higher the value, the harder you have to hit it.

    • CRO (Pad crosstalk): Crosstalk is the unintentional triggering of a pad when an adjacent pad is hit. The higher the value, the less likely the pad will be triggered by crosstalk.

    • CUR (Pad velocity curve): Controls the pad's dynamic response relative to the force (velocity) of your hit. The curves are shown in the Appendix.

    • R-S (Pad rim sensitivity): Controls how responsive a pad's rim is when you hit it.

    • S-S (Hi-Hat "splash" sensitivity): Controls how responsive the hi-hat "splash" effect is when you hit the pedal. (To create this sound, tap your foot on the pedal but lift it up immediately instead of leaving your foot down.)

    • LOC (Local Mode): See MIDI Settings for more information.

    • GM (General MIDI Mode): See MIDI Settings for more information.

    3. Use the < and > buttons to adjust the value. To save the settings, press Save. Otherwise, they will return to their default settings when you power the module off.

  • Hi Bill. Thanks for the reply. As far as the kick pexal is concerned, ive messed about most of the day and got some progress. Still a bit quiet, but way better than before. Still having problems with the sound tho. If i pull the aux cable out quite a way (pro 2 or 3mm) i get clear sound but its very quiet, probably less than half the volume of the garbled music, so i cant hear it once i start playing. I have included an image of the cable ends and the box it came in as per your request. Any further suggestions?

  • It's possible there may be some dust or debris of some kind within the port. Try spraying some compressed air into the port to see if that makes a difference. • Hi Bill. Ive solved my problem, maybe you would like feedback for future use. My problem was not the aux jack but the headphone jack. Even tho i tried different headphones. Now the music is clear, the drums loud (especially the kick pedal). They now sound awesome! Cheers and thanks for your help.

  • I’m confused and frustrated
I am having a similar problem but it involves the rim sound as well. When I use the bass drum it just sounds like a deep shh... and there is a kind of a pop. When I hit the rim, it also does not sound right. However, once in a blue moon, it works and everything sounds perfect. I have tried unplugging and turning on and off, (is there a factory reset) I have tried everything! I have also checked all of the settings to make sure its not reverb. The music is also the same "underwater" type thing.

  • Hello
I just bought a nitro kit and unfortunately I have the same problem with the aux input.
Mark says he has solved the problem with a new headset. Which? I have tried 3 but the problem is always present. The sound of the drums is ok but the music input from the mp3 player has the characteristic "underwater"
    Thanks so much
    Hello
