Using Multimix 8 with Discord

I have an Alesis Multimix 8. I am using it on a Window10 PC. My problem is this. When on Discord, I cannot seem to be able to control what is being sent thru the board. What I mean is, if I'm playing a game, they hear it in discord. Now I CAN cut what they hear, by un-enabling my headphones by pressing the "2-trk to cnrl room" option. However, I have nothing going INTO the RCA inputs, I only have RCA coming OUT of the board, to some headphones. If i'm doing anything on my PC it broadcast to Discord. I just want to send my MIC to discord, however, I do not find an option. I would also like to hear myself on discord, but I have to press the button to enable that, and then everyone on discord can hear everything. :p Thanks in Advance!

  • Hi Jon,

    Thanks for posting.

I'm not familiar with this Discord program you're using with your mixer, but this sounds like a routing issue or an issue with how your audio settings are configured within the software.

Check out this helpful video here that will walk you through configuring a mixer in Discord and how to separate your routing and microphone audio.I would also suggest reviewing this guide on how to eliminate sound echo - CLICK HERE

    I hope this helps!

  • thanks Bill, I did watch the video, however, he's simply showing how to connect a mic with a mixer. I have connected the mixer, I have zero issues getting the mic to work. My problem is more related to .. heck, I'm not sure. let me explain a bit more.
I run the Multimix 8 into a USB. I plug my mic into the Multimix. I use Discord, (which is a simple chat program I use while gaming) and I have no problem getting my mic to work IN discord. Here is my problem. I can't figure out how to stop the board, mixer, multimix, whatever we're gonna call it (i'll simply refer to it as the board) to NOT send the signal of whatever video I am watching or any of the audio coming from my pc, TO discord.
eg: I am watching a youtube video, and chatting on discord. They can hear the youtube video I am watching. I want them to hear my mic, but not the video (or game I am playing). I cannot control the volume of the video since it is on the pc itself and not being played THRU the board. I can turn down the volume on the pc of the video, but it's STILL being sent to the discord, so it has to be something related to the board. I only come to this conclusion because when I use OBStreamlabs, the SAME exact thing happens. I cannot play a video without the board/mic broadcasting whatever it is. The ONLY work around I have found for this is to push the "2trk to Mix" button UP, and the "2trk to CntrlRM" UP. however, while this fixes the bleed over problem, I cannot hear myself thru my headphones anymore.
I've looked numerous times to try to find a fix, i've also read the manual, and watched all the video's I can find. I am at a loss as to how to fix this.
this is a synopsis of my problem, I can't hear my mic without everyone else hearing what is playing on my pc, ONLY with this board. I used a different board which I sent the main mix to a digital converter, then to my pc. I bought this one and started using it simply because I could use a USB connection instead of having to use a digital converter. I have looked thru windows help files thinking maybe something changed when I installed the drivers, but it's using the default drivers for the Multimix 8, and I can't update them as it says they are UTD.

Thanks, hopefully this will clarify my problem.
