Using Vortex Wireless with Roland FA-06

Hello,

I've just purchased a Vortex Wireless to use live with my Roland FA-06. Unfortunately, I don't get any wireless midi connection at all. I bought an adapter that converts the usb male b to female a (not sure if that's correct, but it's the right adapter), and still nothing. The vortex is working with my computer and MainStage, but I bought it to use live as an extension of my current rig. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

  • Hi Rob,

Thanks for posting. How do you plan on using the Vortex Wireless with your Roland controller? Do you want to use the Vortex Wireless to control your Roland controller, or do you want the Vortex Wireless to be controlled by your Roland controller?

If you're trying to control the Roland controller with your Vortex Wireless make sure both controllers are set to the same MIDI channel. To set the MIDI channel of the upper or lower keyboard zone:

    1. Press the Patch Edit button.
    2. Press the Upper or Lower button to select the zone you'd like to edit.
    3. Turn Knob #2 to set the MIDI Channel of the zone (1-16).
    4. Press the Enter key to save the changes or the Cancel key to revert to original settings.
Additionally, make sure you have a MIDI cable connected from the MIDI Out port on your Vortex Wireless to the MIDI In port on the Roland controller.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

  • The Vortex will be controlling the sounds on the Roland. They are both set to the same midi channel, and nothing. I had an old CME wireless midi unit laying around, and I used that in the standard midi jacks, and it worked perfectly. I'd much prefer using the internal wireless however, as the extra packs and batteries are a pain.

    Thanks for the response!
