Unable to install V49 drivers on Windows 10

Hello,

I'm having a problem pretty similar to this topic (I'm creating this one to avoid hijacking an existent one):
http://community.alesis.com/alesis/to...

I have a v49 keyboard, worked great on win7.

I then switched my pc to win10, prior to that I updated the firmware of the keyboard to 1.0.0.9 with the utility found on the website in the Download tab.

Since then, the v49 will only appear in the "Other devices" of the Device Manager with a yellow triangle (code 28 in the description), attempting to update the driver from there will only result in a failure ("go to manufacturer's download page", bla bla bla)

In my DAW I scan all inputs and all channels, but while my pc keyboard will be detected and produce sound, the v49 won't.

Any ideas?

  • Hi Guillaume,

Sorry you're having problems with your V49. I'll be happy to help!

Please note that you should not update the firmware on your unit unless told to otherwise by an experienced technical support agent, as doing so when not necessary can pose for future problems.

Have you tried this with a different USB cable or port on your computer? A "Code 28" message means that the drivers are not installed. Now, while the V49 is class-compliant and doesn't require drivers from the manufacturer in order to communicate with your computer, it will still depend on a generic Microsoft driver in order to communicate properly with your computer.

    Let's try this:

Open your Device Manager. In the device's Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to install the driver.

If this doesn't work, try installing ASIO4All. This is a generic MIDI driver that will allow your V49 and many other class-compliant controllers to connect properly.

If all else fails, I'd recommend reaching out to your nearest Technical Support office for one-on-one support with an experienced technician. Their contact numbers are listed on that page.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions!

  • I’m riddled
Well I updated the firmware because it wouldn't work on W10 in the first place...

And I fail to see the point in installing ASIO again, doesn't it only have to do with audio stream latency ?

I tried the keyboard again on my girlfriend's laptop, the KB works fine...

  • I’m frustrated
    For all other users;
After three unsuccesful attempts to get someone from tech support, I found a simple solution to my problem, on Gumtree.com.

    Thanks anyway.

  • Same problem here.

I have a computer updated to Win10 and when I plug the keyboard in, there is this yellow triangle at the Keyboard sign and I can't use it as a Midi-Device.

this is my system if it helps:

    thanks for any help!
