Vortex Wireless 2 Editor Crashes on OSX High Sierra

The Alesis Vortex Wireless 2 editor V1.03 crashes my MacBook Pro running OSX High Sierra 10.13.3 upon launching the application. Is this a known issue?

  • Hi Paul,

Thanks for posting. No, this is not a known issue. When does the Editor crash? Do you receive an error message? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software? Can you also confirm that you're the administrator on the computer you're using?

  • The editor crashes the entire system when it is launched - the screen goes blank (either totally black or totally white) and the system performs repeated restarts before the video goes back to normal again. The application never launches successfully. I have tried removing the software and reinstalling it (which is basically just dropping the application file into the Applications folder) and it always crashes the system in the same way. I am running as administrator on a MacBook Pro (17" - early 2011) with 16GB of DDR3 memory and Intel HD Graphics 3000 (512MB).
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Paul Schrier

  • Thanks for the additional information. I have tested this on my computer running High Siera here and wasn't able to replicate this issue. That being said, this sounds like an issue with your specific computer. I would suggest having your computer looked at by a computer technician to get this resolved.

  • The problem appears to be related to the way the Vortex editor application handles the graphics modes on a MacBook Pro laptop that has the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 hardware. This is the only application (and I have about a hundred of them) that causes the MacBook Pro laptop to crash and restart. You might want to test out the Vortex editor on an older 17" MacBook Pro with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 w/ 512 MB of graphics memory to see what I'm talking about. I have tried the Vortex editor out on newer MacBook Pros that have the Intel HD Graphics 4000 and there is no problem.
