Alesis Q49. When I play a C2 and a D3, an extra F#2 plays at full velocity

I've restarted the ipad, reset the keyboard and this happens across all apps. Should I send it back?

  • Hi Jon,

Thanks for posting. If you connect your Q49 to a computer does the same thing happen? Make sure you don't have multiple programs open at the same time that can send or receive MIDI data. Let's run a test to make sure your Q49 is functioning properly.

    MIDI Troubleshooting

    Windows

    1. Download the free MIDI OX software here: http://www.midiox.com/moxdown.htm
    2. Click Options from the top menu, and select MIDI Devices
    3. Click on your device under MIDI Inputs, and then click OK
    4. Now press a key, knob, slider in question. You should now see incoming data.

    Mac

    1. Download, and install MIDI Monitor
    2. Open MIDI Monitor.
    3. Click on the Sources tab to view MIDI devices. Confirm that your USB/MIDI device is listed.
    4. Once you confirm your MIDI device is connected and listed. Play any key(s) on your keyboard/controller to confirm each button or key is sending data to your computer.

Let me know how this works out for you.

  • Hi, yes I'm afraid it does. It plays the F# when the D3 is played, and the C2 is then subsequently played.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks,

    Jon

  • Thanks for posting back. Sorry to hear you're still having issues.

It sounds like your product may need to be serviced.  Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction. Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the Alesis Support Page.  Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop-down menu.

    or

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office.

I hope this helps!  Let me know if you have any additional questions.
