  • Hi Robert,

Thanks for posting. I apologize for the inconvenience, but the Pro X Hi Hat is only compatible with the DM8 and DM10 kits. However, I'll be happy to submit this as a feature request for you.

I tried it and it works great with my Nitro kit - (DM6)
much better than the single cymbal - you just need to get a hi-hat stand.
I don't know about software upgrades and all that but it definitely works out of the box with the NItro module.

Hi. I can't believe there is so little info on the nitro pro x topic?! I also don't understand why Alesis say it won't work? Yes I know it's meant for a' better ' kit and as such can not be fully calibrated and reach it's full potential but... here's the low down.

I've just hooked one up to my nitro and... it does work. Not out of the box strictly speaking as one poster put it, you will need a stand obviously but you will also need a 1/4" to 1/8" reducing jack (couple of quid) to enable you to plug your pedal lead into the hat controller. It does the same job effectively. Reads the open/ closed signal. Your original hat lead plugs into the top hat as normal. The two are connected by the hard wired lead from the bottom hat. Ok so far. What you end up with is the same functionality as the original but with a better playability feel to it. You kinda have something a bit more solid under your foot. It is easier to get a half open hat too. But.. let's not forget we're still working with the nitro module, its never going to be 100%! Splashes seem to be the same affair too. That said its only been on a day so I'll have to play with it a bit to see if I can tighten it up a bit. Speaking of which. It's probably a good idea to thread lock your top rod. It does like to spin. Ok for acoustic. Bad for edrums as your strike zone starts to bugger off round the back! Last thing to say is that it is loud compared to the original cymbal. They're not the quietest of things to start with, but now your hitting two together! It is noticeable. Truth be told, I know it's only been a day, but the jury is still definitely out at the moment. So there you have it. It's an expensive experiment but one I feel many will be wanting to try. Is it worth it? Only you can decide. And there's only one way to find out unfortunately. As a side note, not many pro x hats come up second hand. So users must like them?? And let's not forget you've got a spare cymbal now! Buy a jack lead and add it as a crash 2. Happy days.

    Hope this helps.

    Happy drumming.
