AllMusic is hosting ads that inject malware

The AllMusic site fairly regularly serves up ads that hijack the browser with ransomware messages and attempt to inject malware into the OS. As the great majority of reputable web services don't regularly and continually run ads with malware, it is clearly reasonably achievable to do. Additionally, I notice AllMusic has a paid option to get rid of ads which could lead a reasonable individual to conclude that ignoring this problem benefits AllMuisic financially, which I suspect gives AllMusic elevated legal exposure by not taking strong and effective steps to prevent malicious content on its site. I urge AllMusic to take immediate steps to prevent the distribution of malware through their site and, if necessary, sever their relationship with ad networks responsible for delivering those ads. Failure to stop this on your site is likely to permanently damage your reputation and reduce overall traffic to your site.

Understood and agreed.

We've been actively trying to hunt down the source of this malware for several weeks now with little luck.

Vox recently published a pretty good article on this topic:  https://product.voxmedia.com/2018/1/22/16902862/why-ads-redirect-to-giftcards-and-what-were-doing-to...

I assure you we are not promoting this phishing scam or sitting on our hands in an effort to get more users to subscribe.

Thanks for the quick response. I hope you are able to get the problem fixed quickly because it's a pretty unpleasant user experience.

We've removed an ad provider that we suspect may have been the culprit. Please let us know if you see it pop up again.
