Folks, stop using this site! It is full of adware that will waste your precious time and threaten the integrity of your computer. Oh yes, allmusic.com is baffled by it and it's "driving us crazy, too." Well guess what? It's your own damn fault!!!! Hadn't you been such whores for every advertising dime you can get and obliterating your platform with ads of all kinds, the criminal scammers would have had nothing to latch themselves on to. Most people do not have the budget to subscribe to every single website they visit on a regular basis. Furthermore, you would need to hire an accountant just to keep track of it all of this spending. 21st century life is complicated enough!!! Get rid of the ads, downgrade your financial expectations for the website to something that resembles real life, and presto change-o, I think you'll discover that all the adware problems disappear.

I think we can all be honest and admit that ads are nobody's favorite part of the internet. The ads that do pay some sort of decent revenue are the ones that are seen as intrusive and annoying. We've needed to move to a more aggressive ad model for many reasons. (Detailed here if you're interested: bit.ly/1NJlqa3)

The bottom line is that we need that level of advertising to keep the site up and running.

In order for us to make the information on AllMusic available, it costs money.  We need to pay the licenses for the music information: the reviews, the biographies, the star ratings, the genre classifications, the sound samples, etc. We need to pay the developers who keep adding new features and fixing issues that arise, pay rent on our (small) office, and pay for the servers to host the site.

I wish it was as simple as being able to "downgrade your financial expectations for the website to something that resembles real life" but it doesn't change the economics of the site. Sorry this makes us appear as whores to you.

We've been able to squash some of the bad ad partners and removed them from our site but some of our other 3rd party advertisers are now also allowing malware to slip in. It's an annoying game of whack-a-mole on an arcade game that has thousands of holes where the little twerps can pop in.

If somethings not done soon to solve these issues how could AllMusic expect its following to become any greater than what it is

Using the app has become a very disappointing experience
