Alphabetization in Tracker (email v. website)

The alphabetization of tv shows in the tracker on the website ignores articles. The alphabetization of TV shows in the tracker daily emails includes articles. (eg "The Flash" is alphabetized under "F" on the website and "T" in the email) Why is this? Could you please fix it? It's quite annoying to have the order be different across the two.

Checking in.  It's been 3 months since you said it would be added soon and it still hasn't happened.  I'm not sure I understand why the problem exists in the first place.  (Alphabetization should be done once in code and called in various places.  There's no reason "Alphabetize Show Title" should be done differently in 2 different places.)

Hi there-To our knowledge, this *was* implemented a few months ago. The alphabetization between the tracker and emails will still work differently (it’s not so easy as - alphabetize everything the same everywhere). The tracker is just a strict alphabetization on show title with no other factors. The emails are focused on what’s airing tonight and therefore also take into account airtimes. It is bucketed into 30 minute blocks and alphabetized within each block, within each section (now excluding articles). I’ve been unable to locate an email that doesn’t follow these rules as we would expect them to. Including one of mine here as an example. If yours are behaving differently, feel free to upload an image here and we are happy to investigate further. It’s also possible that just having an incorrect airtime listed might impact the order in which it’s appearing and that might be what you are witnessing.

That's actually not the issue I was trying to point out, though.  I understand that "Today" shows aren't alphabetized, they're by time slot.  The alphabetization that is currently wrong is under "Yesterday".  In the Tracker, initial articles (the, a, etc) are ignored, so "The Magicians" comes before "Modern Family".  In the "yesterday" section of the emails these are reversed because the articles aren't separated out.  I've yet to hear a coherent reason for this.  My understanding of standard coding practices is that show titles ought to be a consistent type across your platform (on the backend) and therefore should have a standard alphabetical sort (either with or without articles).  The basic elements of this could be constructed in an introductory object oriented programming class.  I don't see what the trouble is.

Got it. To be clear, we did update the alphabetization in the other two sections based on your feedback (they *are* alphabetized within each time slot and those now *do* exclude articles; they previously did not). You are correct regarding the "Yesterday" section; I'm not sure how/why this section was overlooked, but we will report this and hopefully get that updated soon as well.

Is there any news?  It's been several months and the "Yesterday" section is still weirdly ordered.  Moreover, "iZombie" is alphabetized under I in the tracker and Z in the email.

It's now been nearly a year and the problem still persists.  Are there any plans to fix it at some point?
