Annoying Ads on Report Link feature

When reporting a link, the report screen now opens up with ads that expand if you scroll over them. That in itself is a frustration because they open up without scrolling over sometimes. One ad in particular is the AT&T one. Despite hitting the little "x" in the corner, it continually opened up. I had to try three times to get my to the reporting screen. And when I finally got it to close, it covered up the area I need to submit information. I couldn't move the bloody box out of my way without it opening up again. Seriously, they gotta go. How advertisers think they don't create an adverse reaction is beyond comprehension.

To be honest I never had a problem reporting a link on Sidereel. Are you sure this happens on Sidereel report link box? Or are you talking about some website you visited? On sidereel no ads ever got in my way as they are placed correctly on the page.

Vidox: No I'm not talking about another website. I am familiar with SR Report Link screen. I thought it weird myself so once I got out of it, I tried again with another link and this time the ad was for Sprint but it did not spread itself all over the screen preventing me from filling in the info. But it was annoying in the sense I had to maneuver around it.

Hi Gail, I haven't seen this problem on Firefox either, and I tested it a bit just now and found that even when there are rollover ads next to the link results, when I click the 'report link' button, the form pops up properly and even when I scroll over ads behind it, those ads won't open.

If you think particular ads like the AT&T one you mention are causing problems as opposed to there being an issue with the report form for you, please give us the following info next time you encounter the ad(s):

  • The exact SideReel URL where you came across the ad

  • A screenshot of the ad

  • The source of the ad

  • The browser you're using

Thanks!

Hey, Kendra~
I would have given the screen shot of the ad if I could have gotten to my application to do so, but it wasn't possible with that ad.

However, I have some of the info for you: Browser Firefox, URL http://www.sidereel.com/Bones/_season... (But the ads aren't appearing this time ???)

Interesting to note also: the other problem I had with not being able to close, exit or escape out of the form, only happens on some of the report forms. Like on the above-mentioned URL above and the one in the attached screen shot.
(And yes, my screen is scrolled all the way to the top)

I went to a different URL for another link I wished to report and this time I have the little "x". Not sure why it isn't uniform. C'est la vie.

Cheers~

Thanks for the update, we're making some general updates to the link report form, so hopefully the changes will make the issues you're having better as well. When that goes live, I'll check in to see if it's working better for you. Thanks!
