If the new interface is to be any good at all we need the ability to sort a composer's works by genre (i.e. symphonic, chamber, keyboard, etc) -- the apparent replacement of this feature with "type" (i.e. "etude", "character piece", "chorus", etc) is absolutely useless.

Great feedback Paul.
Would you see value in being able to sort another column of this information?
(Much like we do with "Type" here):

Or would you see more value in a Filter like we do with credits here:

If the "type" column had proper genre labeling (symphony, concerto, etc) rather than the arbitrary and rather ignorant way it's done at present (character piece, etude, etc), that would be usable, though it would still be unwieldy compared to the old interface if it meant paging through dozens, sometimes hundreds, of concertos, keyboard works, and so on before getting to the symphonic section.

Putting the genres into a drop-down filter list would probably be the best solution.

Thanks for the prompt response.

I agree with Paul's concerns with classical genres....

On the old site, classical works have the following columns:

year, work, work-type, genre

And there is a filter drop-down on genre.

On the new site the, classical works have only two columns:

title, work-type

With no filter drop-down and the old genre field appearing underneath the title field of each record.

Also noticed that the "genres" field on the old site is now called "styles" on the new.

Sorry, as an addendum to previous reply - the image shows old site (left) and new site (right) of same search. I'm preferring the old site in comparison when it comes to the classical works. Agree with Paul in that "work type" is a rather arbitrary designation. We need to filter on "genre" or "styles" as it now appears to be called. "Work type" can disappear as far as I'm concerned.

Hello,
The filtering and Sorting of Styles and Work Types has now been implemented. Take a look here: https://getsatisfaction.com/allmusic/...
