-Too much white space everywhere
-At least give us the option to alter the spacing, like gmail does
-Why get rid of the discography tab? For artists with lengthy bios, I have to scroll past tons of text to get to the albums! Not. Good.
-In general, it is harder to access and absorb detailed information, and feels like content and functionality have been sacrificed on the altar of visual appeal

Hi Jonathan

-Too much white space everywhere
-At least give us the option to alter the spacing, like gmail does

We've tried to give the layout more space to be easily browseable and less compacted as the old site. Many users have given us good feedback on the "breatheability" of the new design. Sorry if it is not working as well for you.

-Why get rid of the discography tab? For artists with lengthy bios, I have to scroll past tons of text to get to the albums! Not. Good.

The long bios can be collapsed so that they default to showing less text. We're also working on a better way to jumo straight to the discography, just like a tab.

-In general, it is harder to access and absorb detailed information, and feels like content and functionality have been sacrificed on the altar of visual appeal

We have put emphasis on the visual look and feel of the site, but the content should be just as accessible as ever, you just may need to scroll a bit more to see all of the new information we're presenting.

Thanks for the input,
Zac

Okay you've answered "Too much white space everywhere" but what about "At least give us the option to alter the spacing, like gmail does"? We're not asking for getting rid of the new layout, we're asking for an _option_ to choose more compact view. The default view would be the one that has been already implemented, just give us an option to change view/layout to a condensed one (e.g. without covers next to album, or more importantly, without so much whitespace on track lists).

This is something we're discussing if we can make it work. A couple folks have mentioned doing things similar to how GMail does it (allowing for personalized themes and views) which is an idea I love but will take time to implement with the resources we have available.

Thanks.

Even if it takes long time, it's comforting to hear that you're aware of this issue and plan to implement the feature at some point. That should also stop some of the whining (like mine to start with). Anyway, it's great that you listen to your users (and even reply to their messages ;))!

Folks,
Based on your feedback, we've added a "Jump Link" to allow users to get to the discography directly on the Artist page.

See this post for more info: https://getsatisfaction.com/allmusic/...

At the top of each artist page (under the artist name) you should see red text that says "JUMP TO DISCOGRAPHY" which will take you directly to the Discography section. This functions in the same way that a tab would: Taking you right to the discography information and being accessible from any tab on the artist's page.

Our hope is that this can give the "thanks for the overview!!" folks the ability to scroll down and see the album list below the bio, and also give the "discography tab forever!!" users the ability to accomplish the same thing that a tab would.

All of your users who gave you 'good feedback on the breathability' of the site probably don't read books anymore. Personally, I liked the compact nature of the old design, this new design is apallingly stoopid~
