My login to sidereel with the Facebook connect button has never failed but i have to use it every time i reopen my browser. This never use to happen before so i was wondering if it was just me or if anyone else was having this issue?

I am using Firefox 3.6 on Windows 7

Hi Adam,
Sorry for the inconvenience! This might be a browser issue -- make sure your preferences aren't set to automatically clear cookies from SideReel (or Facebook, from that matter), as this might be automatically logging you out each time you exit the browser.

Hi Adam, just wanted to double-check - did you also check that your SideReel cookies aren't auto-clearing? Let us know about that as well as if you're still having this issue, thanks.

Issue still happens. Its not a huge deal when i click the facebook connect button it pretty much instantly logs in just think its weird that my facebook stays logged in but not sidereel. I use a few other sites (ie: GetSatisfaction) and they will stay logged in when i close my browser.

Hi Adam,
Sorry you're still encountering this problem! When you close your browser and try to go back to sidereel (and find yourself logged out), are you going to the old version of SideReel instead of beta? If you're going to www.sidereel.com, it may show that you're logged out because Facebook Connect is logging you in on the newer version of the site, beta.sidereel.com. If you're not already, make sure that when you close the browser and visit sidereel again, you're going to beta.sidereel.com -- does it still say you've been automatically logged out?

I have the same problem and did some more investigation:

I work on Ubuntu 10.10 and tested with
Chromium 8.0.552.224
Firefox 3.6.13

I connect via Facebook and during that Session everything works fine. As soon as I restart the browser and open Sidereel my name is shown in the upper right corner (so cookie has to be handled somehow).
When I refresh the page it still shows my name, so the cookie is definitely handled. But when I click my name to get to the profile or go directly to sidereel.com/users I am logged out and have to login again.

Something seems to be wrong with the cookie handling. During a Session there is no problem, but the cookie settings after a session is destroyed seem to have hiccups.

I haven't checked the cookie settings I get from sidereel, but if you need that information too tell me and I will give you the exact details.

Please let us save our passwords and stay logged in. I use my facebook acount with sidereel and whenever I go to sidereel.com, I click on my username at the top (so it looks like I'm logged in, right?) but then it asks me to sign in or connect with facebook. I click connect with facebook, I'm taken back to the home screen, and I must hit my username again to view my tracker. There's got to be an easier way to go straight to my tracker. Please look into this or allow saved passwords/stay logged in option.

Hi Lauren! Make sure your browser preferences aren't set to automatically clear SideReel cookies -- this may be why you're not staying logged in!

Alex,
I looked into that and it's not the case. Logging in with my actual username and password (rather than Facebook connect) seems to have kept me logged in for a day or 2 now though. Still, I wasn't the only one having this problem, so there must be some sort of issue on SideReel's (or maybe Facebook's) end.

Hi again! If you don't mind, can you send me an e-mail at info@sidereel.com (from the e-mail associated with your sidereel account?) -- thanks!

Hey I really love your website, its just perfect! I use it all the time and I recommended it to all my friends even published it on Facebook so more people could have fun watching their favorite shows and movies! O:

But there is one thing I find rather annoying...
you cookies seem to stay just for a day or so...
any chance you extend the period?
It is annoying to press "connect to Facebook" and do the long way, every time I want to watch my favorite show O:

Also it would be really nice if right after you log in, it sends you to the tracker, for you to easily and quickly be able to access your tracked shows ^_^

Hi Gosha,
If you're not currently logged in to your existing SideReel account when you click "Facebook Connect", it will automatically create a new SideReel account for you because the system assumes you don't already have one. I suggest either disconnecting your Facebook-connected account (you can do so in your Facebook privacy settings by removing the "SideReel app" and instead use the account associated with your e-mail/username instead.
