Feedback: Too much Scrolling and Clicking To Move Around

Long long long time user. Amazing Website. Kudos to all involved. The new redesign looks good. The only problem I see is that users now need much more scrolling up and down to read the same content that in the old format was available and fit in one screen. There is loads of blank or empty space. That kinda annoys me, but I guess I can get used to. The similar artists and influences were available in the overview screen. That was very useful. Now we need to click in an extra tab to get that. I'd like that to be back in the overview page. So basically, my only criticism is too much clicking and scrolling to obtain the same information that was readily available in one screenshot in the previous version. But, anyways, who am I to complain , this website is amazing with tons of information and free for me. So if you can compact the contents a little, that'd be fantastic...Love the new search function. Definitely much better.

Thanks much.
We've had feedback from folks saying that they feel the site design and layout is too spread out and more feedback from others saying they like the new more "breathable" look so I think our users are somewhere in the middle (so far).

We moved the Related Artists to a new tab because we brought the Discography (a place where we get a *ton* of usage traffic) to the Overview tab so we lost one click but gained another.

Please keep trying the new site. I hope you will find that it still works, even though the layout is slightly changed.

I can go either way with the re-design. As long as I can still search an artist and then see their discography and then read a review of the album, I am good. The problem I have (and maybe it is my resolution setting), is that I have to scroll left and right to read a review or see the far right side of the screen in review or discography screens. That's a tad bit annoying. Is that your site or my computer setting.

Hi Buckeyes,
Sorry our redesign is not fitting your monitor properly.

We did a lot of user research and analysis and found that the overwhelming majority of our users are using a screen resolution 1280 and higher. With all of the information we're trying to show at once, we knew we could use the space to more advantage.

This statistic from the w3 schools site also factored into our decision:

Sorry if this makes the site more difficult for those users still using smaller monitors.

Thanks. I messed with my screen resolution and everything fits. Like I said, could go either way with the re-design. I liked the compactness of the current site, but will still use the new site when it goes live. Love what I can find about artist I knew little or nothing about.

Compact info = good. Breathability? BAD
