I will report you if I find out you are scamming pay-per-click

Every time I launch your site for the first time in a browsing session and click in the search box it opens a popup advert, usually for a gambling site. This advert link appears to be hidden/overlapping the search box... so what's the deal? Are you scamming the pay per click ads system for extra revenue? Or are you in cahoots with the company advertised to try and get more people looking at their message? Whatever it is, there is definitely something dodgy going on as I have been monitoring this for a few weeks now as it eventually started to drive me crazy. Rest assured I plan to investigate it properly when I have time in a few weeks, so you should probably think about straightening your act up if you don't want to be reported once I figure out what is being done to serve that pop up ad.

Hi Kate,
Sorry if you are experiencing a strange or unexpected ad. If you can give us more information about what company is serving the ad (and a screenshot is very helpful), and we can look at solving it.

If you'd prefer, you can contact us at support (at) allmusic (dot) com.

Thanks.

I appreciate your rapid response.. it is not something I can screenshot as it is invisible.. it just happens every time I use your site that the first time I click the search box to type in it it seems to launch a pop up.. I cannot remember who specifically it was for or whether it is always the same.. I will do some tests over the weekend and feed back early next week.

Thanks

OK, I have run a test at home today.. three browsers all had the same effect.. These browsers are:

Chrome Version 25.0.1364.172 m
IE9 version 9.0.8112.16421
Firefox 19.0.2

On launching Allmusic.com for the first time everything appears as it should but the moment I click in the Search box top right of screen a popup ad is served. Today it is for LoveFilm (see attached screenshot) and yesterday it was for a gambling site I cannot remember which one though. It should be noted that this popup occurrence only happens once a day, even if I shut down the browser and reboot my machine... which is one thing that makes me suspicious it is an attempt to game the pay-per-click advertising system.

I was also able to screenshot the website serving the advert - inttrax.com - see the top of the attached screenshot for that information... I captured this by backspacing the popup in IE9 and grabbing a print screen real fast...

Hi Kate,
We're investigating this ad.
Please note, there are times on AllMusic where we will run "Page Takeover" ads from our advertisers. The LoveFilm.com ad seems like it may be legitimate, but we do not run gambling advertisements so that one seems suspect.

We're looking into this specific case, but it is entirely possible that you are just receiving an ad from one of our advertisers (nothing sinister like a "Pay-per-click scam").

Thanks for the information,
Zac

It happens EVERY TIME I click the search box for the first visit of the day and has done so for months and months... this does not seem a legitimate form of advertising to me - it is not simply a page takeover -- it will be being registered by the ad server a a positive result from their advertising practice when it is not.. it is intensely annoying at best... I'm pretty sure LoveFilm wouldn't class this as a positive advertising result.
