Keep original field ordering in Discography!!

I actually think there's a lot to like in the new AllMusic site, and I've been a longtime proponent of sticking with the original one. I *really* like the fact that all albums' album art is visible in the Discography, rather than appearing one by one as mouse hovers over it.

That said.... in the Discography... *please, please, please* move the Year column to the far left, in front of the Album art and title. The way you had that on the original/current site is far preferable -- please implement this for the new site as well. The rating in front too was also nice, although less critical.

It is jarring having to look so far to the right just to find the release year (since the album title can take up so much room). It is better to see everything close together, which means relatively-fixedwidth columns like Rating and Year should come first. Please implement this feature!

Glad to hear you're liking some things about the new site. We'll get some additional feedback about the placement of the year column and see if we want to make that change.

The original thinking was that Title was by far the most important item when looking for a specific album so we wanted that to be the first thing a user sees when browsing.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Zac -- appreciate the quick feedback, it's good to know that AMG is listening.

One other thing I wanted to say 'thank you' for --- is that the full Discography is now immediately visible when pulling up an artist, eliminating the need for a second mouseclick on the "Discography" tab (as with the previous AMG site). I know a lot of users wanted that, and it's great to see.

That's certainly been a point of discussion. Some users liked a specific tab for that data, some users like it on the overview.

Thanks for the vote one way or the other!

Hey Supra92,
We've released a new update that includes having the Year as the first field in the Discography view:

A couple more fixes are listed here:

Enjoy!

Hi Zac,

Just checked out the new beta release that you linked to above. One word: fantastic! Seriously, I know that may sound like a small thing, but having the Year listed first like that makes a world of difference. Really puts the artist's discography in a logical, visually chronological order. Thanks very much for making that happen; this longtime AMG user is pretty happy about that!

I've been looking more at the spacing of the discography too, as I know one or two people have commented that seeing an entire discography requires a bit more scrolling due to the wider spacing. I'd just like to comment that I honestly like the change you've made, that now shows the album art for every album. You guys nailed two birds with one stone:
1. Seeing all the album art for each album at a glance as you scroll is just fantastic, and far more visually appealing and informative.
2. The old site had the annoying aspect of shifting the whole discography whenever the mouse hovered over a specific album (which caused the album art to appear, and thus all the albums below it to lurch down by 20 pixels or so). Was not a fan of that, and your new site resolves that too.

BTW, I wanted to mention one other change I just noticed this time around -- something about which I'd written to AMG probably 4-5 years ago or so. On the old site, when you clicked on an album to view the details/review, it it was a long review you only saw *part* of it, with a link to "See Full Review". For many/most albums, it thusly took two clicks to see the full review, which was perplexing. I see that your new site fixes that as well -- any album I click on, the review comes up in full with no further clicking required.

A part of me will probably miss the more understated and "classier" look of the older site for a short time, but I am really appreciative of the fixes and improvements you've made to the new beta site.

From a longtime user/fan on what has quite probably been a daily basis for years now... thank you very much!
