Malicious Advertisements

Hello,

First, I greatly enjoy this website database service. I also understand that since I am not a paid subscriber advertisements are part of the service. However, I have had numerous issues with malicious software on this website, presumably from advertisements. On a regular basis, the website will not load and there will be a message along the lines of there being a malicious attack with the entire page being red. The message will encourage calling a phone number that is said to be a toll-free Microsoft number, but is in fact not a Microsoft customer service number. I would greatly appreciate being able to use this service without concern of malicious advertisements. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Nathan

Thanks for your message, Nathan.

This bit of scareware has been driving us crazy. It does not seem to be actually infecting anything, but rather a phishing attempt to get you to call and give them your information.

It is coming in via one of our third-party ad networks and we have been trying to determine the source for weeks now.

Thanks for your patience as we try to track this down.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I think this is still happening. My school network blocked the site when I tried to access it due to malicious ads.

We've removed an ad provider that we suspect may have been the culprit. Please let us know if you see it pop up again.

Whoops, just wrote in about the same.  It's happened to me twice in the last week, so it's not yet contained...

Damn. I thought we had it nailed. OK, time to start chopping more advertisers. Thanks.
