my new tracker is cluttered & cumbersome

Here's how I used my tracker: I clicked to track shows I'm interested in watching when I find the time. Then I'd delete the episodes I'd seen from my tracker, making room for other shows that had caught my interest, but I'd not had time to watch. And of course, new episodes were added as they became available. It was great: I could tell at a glance what was up for watching.

The new version has readded shows I've already seen, bumping shows that I'd planned on watching off of the list. I recall at least 5 series from my previous tracker page that have been arbitrarily bumped off of my list. It feels like it is no longer MY tracker page, as I have lost control of key functions that made it useful to begin with.

Yes, I realize that I could mark the shows as watched, but without the very handy 'remove' button, they're still cluttering up my tracker page. I don't need a list of shows I've watched. I can see where that may be handy for those who pursue online friendships. I prefer to do my socializing in person, so the 'watched' page has no use for me.

I've tried the 'hide all watched' feature: a) it doesn't seem to permanently hide all the shows I marked as watched, and b) most importantly, it doesn't free up space on my tracker page for the 5 or more shows that have been bumped.

Is there some way I've not figured to remove individual episodes of shows I'm tracking from the new tracker page without deleting the entire series? Or could you just bring back the 'remove episode' button. That would be Great!!

I hope you really don't feel violated. Your point is a great one! Several others bright up similar issues. We have added this comment to our design team and will have a solution. For now, there will be a little extra scrolling using the Hide All Watched feature. Better solution in the works. . .

Hi Paulette - I'm a bit confused about the issue you're describing. What hasn't been fixed?

I have exactly the same problem. And im really confused about it. I can even mark some episodes twice as watched and they still show up as not watched. getting annoyed by clicking on everythin twice or even more.

We think that "marking watch twice" is an issue with server latency. The feature works, but servers are slow to register. We have just checked in a fix to improve performance for these features. Also, there were some other bugs that we fixed. Thanks for sticking with us.

So... when things are fixed, will the shows that got bumped from my page return? And will I still have the same settings? As in, will the individual episodes that I'd deleted before the change go away, or will I have to delete them again. If so, it'll take a while for me to weed through which ones I've seen & not.

I understand your point of view as to the new tracker and I agree enthusiastically with most of what you've said, though I would still prefer to have the option of tracking shows that I watched and that no loner run. It allows me to re-watch series that I loved watching before and also lets me remember ones that were great to tell my friends about (and my watch list is huge so it's not that reasy to remember them all). It would be too long and frustrating to suggest changes to the tracker, but luckily I can suggest a complete solution that is perfect and has everything most of us want - and that's the tracker from the previous version of sidereel.

I totally agree Peter!!! The old one worked better. People could track shows they watched, IF they wanted to, but didn't have to. Individual episodes could be deleted without having to delete the entire show, and thus space could be freed up to track more shows. I keep marking episodes as 'watched' in order to clear them out, not that it frees up any room, but then the next time I log in, they're Back!

On my Tracker, I don't like that all the shows I track are there, whether there's a new episode or not. I don't like having to scroll through everything just to find out if there are new episodes of something. I'd rather only shows with unwatched episodes were listed

Can I minimize these huge show emblems? Or at least get it back to the old way where it only showed unwatched episodes below my calendar?

Half the shows I have on there are completed, it's a hassle to have to scroll through 8 pages worth of stuff to see if I have any new eps to watch.

I agree with this whole page of comments! I only want to see what needs to be watched, at a glance. Why make everything so time-consuming?

Hi Paulette, sorry for the confusion, but this is actually a year-old thread that no longer reflects the current lay-out of the tracker, which you can tell by visiting your tracker. As of a few months ago, you can easily remove shows from your tracker with one single button, and you now have the ability to switch between tracker views (up-to-date vs. not up-to-date), as well as sort by show status, ie: current, hiatus, concluded, etc. What problems do you have with the way the tracker is currently organized, and what privacy violations are you referring to?

I am actually quite pleased with the changes that SideReel have made. Being able to hide all the show's I'm caught up on solved the problem for me!

Thanks Dominee! I think some users are just getting confused from these dated threads - I think one of SideReel's resolutions should be to clean the forums a bit! :)
