I'm not sure what size screen I'm meant to have to use the new site, but I've just opened it up on a netbook with a fairly standard 1024x600 screen and even with the browser window completely maximised the page doesn't fit on the screen widthwise.
We did a lot of user research and analysis and found that the overwhelming majority of our users are using a screen resolution 1280 and higher. With all of the information we're trying to show at once, we knew we could use the space to more advantage.
Did that analysis cover overall screen resolution, or browser window size?
The only time I use a browser window maximised is when I'm on the netbook, and that's purely because vertical space is at a premium. If I'm on something with a bigger screen I don't have the window maximised.
I've just had a quick trawl and 1024 is quite a common vertical resolution (or horizontal if rotated) on tablets, as well as most netbooks. So unless you're aiming solely at laptop or PC users with maximised browser windows, or users of cutting-edge tablets, you seem to have left everyone else with a page that doesn't quite fit.
