please help, cannot connect

Hi, I have 3 computers and one use more often than others, not so long ago I noticed that cannot access allmusic.com from that computer, I still receiving your news via plankton@mail.ru. Is it possible that I made something wrong? Please explain and tell me what to do? I'm still looking for info about music, and your site was very helpful.

Hi Igor,
This is a known issue among some of our users, but we're getting closer to finding a solution.

Suggestion #1: Have you restarted your machine recently? If not, it may be holding onto our old IP address since we switched to new servers on Friday.

Maybe a restart would kick out the old and ring in the new?

Suggestion #2: We have been having scattered issues where some users' internet provider OR their router OR their computer OR their browser (whew) have been holding onto our old IP address and not letting the new one through.

Can you try this?

This is a new temporary placeholder URL for AllMusic that should not be cached by your internet provider.

Thanks for letting us know. This is what my colleague Zac suggests you try next:

You may want to try flush the DNS cache on your router. The information in this Google Search may be helpful:
https://www.google.com/search?q=flush...

The other option (though more technical, if you feel up to it) would be to add this to your Hosts file:
208.94.36.25 www.allmusic.com
Which means your computer will prefer this IP address first (which should be the live site).

According to our tech team, some providers may hold onto an old IP address for up to a month(!) so even though eventually it may work itself out naturally, that solution may still be weeks away!

Sorry for all this.
It is quite a pain.

try this http://pb.allmusic.com/ = failed
flush the DNS cache on your router = N/A (i have no router)
Add to Hosts file 208.94.36.25 www.allmusic.com = added (rebooted) failed

solution may still be weeks away! = darn

Hi, I've been unable to access allmusic.com the past few weeks. I've run a tracert which seems to timeout after demarc.profitbricks.switchnap.com [216.115.64.210]. Do you have any recommendations?

I work at a public library system in Eastern Virginia and we have this same issue, hit or miss, on some of our staff workstations. At our Reference desk, one Win7 Pro SP1 machine can get to allmusic.com, but the other two (also Win7) cannot get the site to load on Firefox 24.0, IE 10, Current Chrome, or Safari 5.1.7

We've tried

Going to http://pb.allmusic.com
Flushing DNS on troublesome clients
Power cycling our cable modem
Checking to remove any proxy settings

but no joy. Our clients are successfully resolving allmusic.com to 208.94.36.25 so DNS cache does not seem to be the issue. Browsers display the same behavior when going to the URL or the IP address - time out on response from server.

Traceroutes from Linux or Windows both seem to die at 64.79.156.6, but that's not as useful information as it used to be.

I'm experienced in network security and would be happy to work directly with your techs on this issue as our staff and patrons really like your sites!

Pardon us for the delay.

Based on the information from you folks who have forwarded their details and traceroutes, we've seen a pattern where some (frustrated) users are unable to reach AllMusic because of a server (or possibly a set of servers) that our networking facility interacts with.

The good news is that this problem may finally explain all the issues we are having.

The bad news is that this issue is occurring 'upstream' of our network and it may take a few more days to resolve.

Please know that we are pushing our provider to remedy the situation ASAP, but we certainly understand (and share!) your frustration.

Wondering if this is any closer to a resolution? I have the same issue and per a traceroute server demarc.profitbricks.switchnap.com sends my request off to ip208-94-36-25.profitbricks.com instead of allmusic.com.

The folks from our server provider are interested in getting on the phone with one of our users who are having this issue.

Are you tech-savvy? Can you run a traceroute and ping an IP?
Willing to spend a few minutes on a conference call to try a few things?
