Hello. I've been in music business for almost 19 years. I've tried so many different websites for getting informations about songs & musicians all over the world. I have to tell you that It's such a huge shame !!! few years ago this website was the most complete & helpful & powerful website in the whole word for anybody who wants to find the name of a singer with using the song name & other info's like year or type. But right now this website is just a useless worthless website which just waste anybody's time & at the end you will get "NOTHING" !!!! in this website after searching the name of a special song, I was able to sort all the results by ANY COLUMN including singer name, release year, type, composer name & so many other useful items. this was just a very small example of the power of this website. there were SO MANY other powerful unique features in this website. But right now this website is just the most useless worthless time-wasting website I have ever seen. NONE of that powerful features are available right now. but I just realy want to know : WHAT WAS THE POINT OF RUINING THAT AWESOME PERFECT WEBSITE AND TURNING THAT TO THIS STUPID USELESS WORTHLESS WEBSITE ?!? SERIOUSLY. WHY ?!?

Hi Behzad,
Many users have suggested that we bring back a song search with filters -- here's a discussion from earlier this month, for just one example: https://getsatisfaction.com/allmusic/... --
and it's a feature I personally loved and would like to see again, too.

Similarly, my colleagues and I would like to provide such a feature, but it's a little more complex to make happen than you may think, and we have very limited resources to work with, who have more on their plates than just AllMusic. If you can provide some specific examples of how you'd use a song search with filters, that will help us get a better sense of what users want most in that feature.

I will remind you to please refrain from posting more than one thread to our Get Satisfaction community about a single topic. Posting the same thread multiple times is considered spam and will be removed, which is how the two other threads you posted today were handled.

Thanks!

Hi Behzad,
I have now removed three duplicate threads that you've posted today about this topic. This is disruptive to the users trying to participate in discussions here, as well as creating unnecessary work for my colleagues and I who moderate these discussions. Any further duplicate threads about this topic will result in you being banned from our Get Satisfaction community.

Thank you!

and secondly you don't have this right to threaten me for banning from this community !!! this is a free community & I do have this right to inform the other people of what incredible features they missed in older website !! As i said before there were 2 different issues. I posted one in question section as a question from website sponsors & the other one as an idea for informing & voting from people. I still cannot understand why you removed all my posts !!! it doesn't make sense at all !!

I'm not sure what you're referring to about "finding sources". The "limited resources" I mentioned refers to our small team of web developers.

Many users have also asked that we revert to previous versions of the website, but that isn't possible for various reasons, most importantly because we lack the resources to support two code bases.

Thanks.

Hello Behzad,
The truth of the matter is, the old site was built on a lot of older technologies that were in constant need of updating/bandaging.

AllMusic has been around since 1991 (we actually predated the World Wide Web and were first available as a Gopher site many moons ago) and for the past several years we really haven't done much with our site. Since then, the amount of content we cover has grown exponentially and the back-end database system we were using just could not keep up. As we moved away from our old (and I'll say it: held together by duct tape and twine) architecture and delivery system and started using the API web services available from our Web Services API, we felt as though an update to the look and feel of AllMusic made a lot of sense.

More info here: http://www.allmusic.com/faq#change

Part of the purpose of this redesign was to move away from a lot of the older (struggling) processes we needed to maintain to keep the old site running.

The new site is certainly using the same underlying information but the way the information is delivered to us is radically different.

We won't be able to keep the old version going, I'm sorry to say.

Specific examples of what you are looking for are certainly helpful. The features may still be on the site and we can help you find them.

It is also possible that a feature you remember has been removed or scaled back based on lack of user interest in those pages. The album reviews, artist discographies, star ratings and new release information are all still there, along with some new features like recommendations and song lyrics.

Take some time to explore the new site and you may find that we have not removed everything of value on AllMusic.
