It's absolutely awful. I HATE IT. Please fix it back the way it was! Not everyone uses it on a tablet or phone - as a matter of fact I have both a tablet and a phone and NEVER used it like that. Please at least add back the TV show grid with my tracked shows for the week. I used to love sidereel but if it stays this way, I'm gone.

Hi Mehmet! That's not very nice, but we're nice and we'd still like to help you. :) Could you be more specific about the bugs you're experiencing on your tracker?

I wasn't trying to be mean. Lol. Just simply letting you know that your programmers aren't that great. There are a lot of Errors and Warnings in the coding of the main page as well as the tracker page (only ones I have checked so far)...

Here are all of the Errors/Warnings for the main page "www.sidereel.com";:

  1. Info: The Content-Type was text/html. Using the HTML parser.

You should also work towards making the website better for Chrome users first before any other browsers... Chrome is the most used browser Since January 2013.. If you're going to release a website (design) update make sure you focus on your audience that are using Google chrome before anything else! I'd just release an update once all of the coding is compatible with all types of devices/browsers.

Hope that helps! :) Again, not trying to be mean...

Have a great night,

Well, thanks for taking the time to compile this list; we appreciate anyone who is as passionate as we are about making the site the best it can be (though maybe telling people they suck isn't the best way to go about it). ;) That said, although they're not ideal, none of these errors should actually be preventing your tracker from working. Could you elaborate on what specific issue you're having with your tracker? The site is designed first and foremost for Chrome and should be functioning properly. If you are using adblock, it's possible that an out-of-date version is interfering and upgrading may fix the problem for you (of course, we'd prefer that you didn't use adblock at all, but, you know... we get it!). If that's not it, let me know and I'll try to get to the bottom of it for you!

Touche :) Didn't mean to sound mean.. Haha. I was just upset because I wasn't able to access my tracker and I love the site... I reset my settings and reinstalled everything. I've taken care of the problem, don't worry. Thanks for the response!

Hi Joseph, sorry you're not a fan. Change is hard, but we had to do it! ;) We hope you'll grow to like it!
We're having some hiccups with the mobile version of your tracker calendar, but we're looking into it. Yes, it should be showing your tracked shows, but it isn't right now. Sorry about that! Stay tuned.
In the meantime, you can still see the calendar grid you're used to seeing (just a little nicer looking, in our opinion!) if you visit your tracker from the desktop version of the site — yes, with your own tracked shows!
Thanks for your honest feedback and your patience.

I no longer see my calendar Grid. I do see shows I never signed up for.It took you 24 hours to ruin your site.I give you 24 hours to fix it or I'm dumping you.Maybe you are to young to have heard the expression, "If it ain't broke don't fix it." You sound like every major company that forces people to use VAR,(phone prompts.)You all insist that phone prompts are efficient. Efficient for who? Not the bloody customers who have to wait through a series of irrelevant questions for the one they want. That's assuming the damn robot recognizes the selection or if the company even offers it.I'm going to give you the same advice that I give to those big companies when dealing with customer service," the shortest distance between two points is a straight line ."Now I'm no IT expert but I was able to master basic geometry in high school.Do you think you Egg Heads can understand that basic concept ?Good Day.

I'm saying that you succeeded in " upgrading the website," but people can't use it.And for the record I still have no weekly or daily tracker calendar on my smartphone.Having no weekly or daily tracker calendar of my shows makes your website useless to me.Was that clear enough for you?

Hi Janet! We're currently ironing out some kinks with the tracker calendar. Keep in mind that if you're using the site on a tablet or desktop, you should still see the grid calendar on your tracker (though on tablet you'll see 3 days at a time instead of the full 7):

(desktop view)

(tablet view)

On mobile, the calendar lives on a separate page (as it's too small to comfortably fit with the newly-designed tracker) where you can swipe left and right to see each day of the week. Right now this mobile calendar view appears to be displaying the incorrect shows, so we're working on fixing that now! Thanks for your patience.

Hi all! Thanks for your feedback! Just an update: our team has fixed the tracker calendar bug for the mobile view of the site. You should now be able to see your own tracked shows (as you'd expect) when you visit your tracker on your mobile device and click "Check out your tracker calendar" (as seen below):

You'll notice that on mobile, your calendar will display one day at a time (on larger screens, such as tablet and desktop you'll see a larger grid with three or seven days at once). Simply swipe left and right to see the rest of the week! Again, you should now see your own shows now, not a bunch of shows that you don't track! This screenshot below is just an example of mine (yes, I'm tracking Dating Naked):

Please see Zaz's explanation above about Responsive Web Design, Google rankings, and why we definitely will not be switching back to a fixed width design. SideReel must change with the times, and this is a definite improvement, allowing one design that fits phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop.

yes i get it. but can't you put in a button or something where you can choose "automatic", where the number of days changes with the size of the window as it does right now with this new update, and as a second option decide to always see seven days?
besides that i've grown to like the update:)

I finally understand why you had to change your format. However would it ever be possible in the future to offer the desktop calender grid on the smart phones again ?I do prefer being able to scan the entire 7 days of  tracked shows on my smart phone all at once.I am very  grateful that your site keeps track of my weekly TV watching preferences.

Please change the format back to the way it was. It wasn't broken or in need of change. My dad always said If it ain't broke don't fix it. I love this website and I visit Sidereel more times than I do any other website out there. I mean its my TV go to site for news and updates and the latest on what's hot and trending, Sidereel is my TV Bible in a manner of speaking.

Hi Eric,

As I wrote above, updating our site to be more mobile-friendly is absolutely critical for SideReel to continue to be in business, so it was imperative that we make this change.

However, if you can tell us more about why the new design isn't working for you, we will be better able to address your needs and concerns. We appreciate your loyalty as a user!

ok i just solved it, it turns out when you zoom in (cmd+) your site switches to a single day view mode.
I consider this a bug, this behavior is not expected for a desktop browser. please fix this.

Hi Nir,

This seems like an unusual problem. We find you have to zoom quite a lot for this to happen (at least 3x, usually more like 6x). The transition points between mobile, tablet and desktop have been carefully calibrated for actual devices. Unfortunately, the browser has complete control over how sites are rendered when you zoom in and out (hence the difference between Safari and Chrome). All I can recommend is that you make your window as large as you can, only zoom in as much as you really need, and make sure to refresh after you reach your desired zoom level.

Hi Danielle,

It is quite possible this issue doesn't have anything to do with the responsive upgrade. Please try the following and see if it helps:

Some steps to try:
1) Clearing the cache in your browser
2) Restarting your browser
3) Restarting your computer

And some questions for you to help us determine what may be causing your problem:
1) Do you use AdBlock?
2) Do you have the same problem in other browsers?
3) Are any images broken for you on this page: http://www.sidereel.com/topic/connectivity-test

There have been several sites lately where people are complaining about how they aren't loading, only to find out that the user's AdBlock has not automatically updated. You can check this by going to Options, then Filter Lists, and then click Update Now. After that, clear your cache, and restart your browser. You can also try opening the site in an incognito window to see if there is an extension/add-on interfering with your viewing.

SideReel has been listening to your concerns, and our great IT gurus have been hard at work to adapt the new responsive web design.

If you reduce your calendar window (or view the site on a phone), you'll now see your calendar in a new vertical weekly-view. You'll still get a 3-day view if you only reduce a desktop/laptop window slightly, but adjust it a bit smaller to get the new vertical weekly-view (or a bit larger, and you'll get the horizontal weekly-view).

To summarize, the tracker calendar options are:
  • mobile size - daily horizontal view with arrows to switch days, or weekly vertical view (use buttons to switch)
  • tablet size - (or smaller desktop window) 3-day horizontal view with arrows
  • desktop size - (full window) 7-day horizontal view with arrows
Be sure to give Zaz and her fellow gurus some kudos for all their hard work!

I don't know why, but whenever I'm on your site with my desktop it only shows me the mobile site (which can get very irritating). I'm using Chrome on a win7 computer btw. I don't know if this is an easy fix or not, but either way I would appreciate a link at the bottom of the page to get to the desktop site because (even when browsing on my phone) I prefer the full site.

Hi Tristan,

We no longer have a mobile site, per se, since the site is now responsive, adjusting to optimal viewing based on the size screen it is being viewed on.

The size of your window, your resolution, and how far you have the site zoomed in could possibly be affecting your user experience. You might want to try some different adjustments to see if that is the case.
