The Sidereel app and timezones

Hello! The app has an annoying issue. It doesn't account for timezones. If a show is aired on Sunday in the US, for example, in Romania it will come out on Monday.

The site displays it correctly (on Monday) but the app doesn't take the timezone discrepancy into account and displays it on Sunday.

Thanks,

Hi Leo!
You're totally right — unfortunately, as you pointed out, there are inconsistencies between the way we deal with time zones on the website vs. the app. Admittedly, the app was originally designed with US-based SideReelers in mind to serve as a companion to actually watching TV, so that you can receive reminders when your favorite shows are about to air and have a more accessible way to mark episodes as watched. Since these types of 'real-time' alerts aren't really helpful for international users, as shows aren't airing simultaneously in the US and in other countries, we never quite got around to fleshing out the app to accommodate time zones outside of the US, which is unfortunately a little more complex to develop than it might sound.
That said, we totally agree that it's confusing that the website accounts for time zone differences while the app does not, and we'd like to come up with a solution.
Just out of curiosity, could you give us an example of a show you're tracking that airs in the US on Sunday but in Romania on Monday? (I know, there are several possible examples, but was there one in mind you were looking at?)

This I very annoying and would appreciate if you could fix this. You can use any US show for examples
