Tracker not saving what I've "Marked as Watched"

I can't get my tracker to acknowledge when I have watched an episode or season. I click the box, it adds the checkmark, but when I go back to the tracker, its still on the same episodes. I'm having this problem with different shows, and the same thing happens when I go to the individual pages for the shows. I've been having this problem for at least 4 days now. I am using Internet explorer.

Hey Jennifer! Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the tracker. IE can be finicky when it comes to loading issues -- I'll definitely have the tech team look into it. In the meantime, have you tried a different browser?

Thanks for clarifying! Have you marked all the episodes as watched, waiting a bit for the page to load, and then tried refreshing the page? If it keeps resetting, please send screenshots of what the page looks like when you mark all the episodes as watched, then what happens after you refresh the page! You can either post them here or email them to us at info@sidereel.com.

I've tried a few more times. Here are the screen shots.

Thanks for looking into the issue, it's quite infuriating!

Hi Vanessa! Weird - that's very annoying indeed! One more thing to try - if you go to your "All" or "Unwatched" tab and mark them as watched from there, THEN refresh, do you have any better luck getting your 'next episode' tab to update accordingly?

A-ha! Fixed it. I ended up deleting it and then re-adding it. I did this before but I didn't know it would work so I tried it again. It seems to be working now. I am using Firefox. Now it works fine. Thanks for the help. Hopefully others will be able to fix the problem by removing the show and then re-adding it.

Wow! Thanks for the update. That's good to know, and while we're glad you were able to find a workaround, the tracker definitely shouldn't be functioning that way! Thanks for bearing with us, and we'll definitely file that for future investigation on fishy tracker behavior! ;)

The frustrating part about this problem is that there wasn't a problem until 2 weeks ago. I've been using IE with no problems, until now.

After watching episode tick the "Watched Episode" button, but now it doesn't remember I've ticked it and also doesn't go to the next episode, so not saving what I've watched, very annoying!!

When I try to mark shows that I am tracking as watched, they do not seem to stay marked. I tried searching through the other reported problems and one of them said to ensure that I am staying logged in but that is not the problem. I am running Internet Explorer 8.

Any solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

When I clicked "Watched Episode" it doesn't disappear. Is this just a glitch or am I doing something wrong. I have many other seasons that Ive used this option along the way and never had an issue.

When I mark all available episodes as watched it automatically checks the watched season box for me. Then when the next episode comes out it thinks I've already seen it and checks the box for that episode too.

Hi,
I have a couple of problems I have with this site. First one is when i press any show I have on my tracking list to say that i have "watched episode" it wont work. As soon as i come back to it or refresh the page the episode is back to episode one. Second problem i encountered on the site is the video uploading time and quality. I have to wait an hour for 30 mins of the show. And if one of the videos loads faster the quality is worse. Its like watching big blobbs of color on screen, especially when the screen is enlarged. I actually praise the site for having my favorite shows for FREEE and letting me catch up to them. But I thought I'll give my feedback so you can get the site to be better.
Thanks
Angie

Hi Angie! Regarding the upload/buffering time, keep in mind that SideReel does not host the videos itself -- rather we just provide a place for users to submit places to watch. Therefore an issue with a particular watchlink is probably best taken up with the video host site itself. You can also report links that simply don't work by clicking 'report link' next to the link in the search. Sorry for the inconvenience!
As for the 'mark as watched' feature, our tech team is currently working on a fix to this bug! Can you tell me which browser you're using when encountering this error?

Cannot click that I have watched an episode. It keeps reappearing on my list. I have tried several different ways to remove the watched episode with no luck. This has just begun happening to me in the last several weeks.

The new program does not allow me to update the show I am tracking- in particular 'TOP GEAR' I keep checking the boxes and it keeps resetting it to a previous setting. Why won't it save the data?

When I click the boxes to say that I have watched the show, the boxes do not go away. They stay there and the show does not get updated. If I refresh the boxes are unchecked and the show is still there.

I am amazed!!! Does no one read anymore??? This thread has been up since the 12th December, explaining clearly the problem the 'mark as watched' feature doesn't work. It also says that the team are working on it and now will soon have a fix, please bear with them, yes it is frustrating but reading that you and everybody else has the same problem doesn't help. Bear with them, wait paitiently and be quiet. (except if posting which browser you are using, only question asked by Rep). Thank you!!

Hey Alex. :) Thanks for the support, but to be fair, many of these replies were merged from separate reports (for organizational purposes), so it's not necessarily the same people being redundant on one thread. Also, since you can report a problem on Get Satisfaction through SideReel without necessarily reading previously reported problems first, sometimes duplicate problems get reported. Thanks for being patient and for helping to promote patience on such a stressful topic! :)

Recently my watched episodes in my subscriptions are not updating. The "next episode" option reverts back to episode 1. And yes, I did check the box next to the episodes I have watched. Any way of fixing this as it is pretty annoying!!

The tracking system on my account does not work. When I put a checkmark inside the watched episode box, it doesn't do anything. I've had this problem for about 2 weeks, now...and before when I put a checkmark in the box, it used to click and then refresh the page but as I said nothing happens now. I was giving you guys time to fix the issue, but now I'm letting you know. Also I don't know if you guys use, javascript for the tracking system, but I do have java and javascript enabled on the computer.

i am having the same problem using IE. When I use Chrome, it does update but VERY VERY slowly. also, just trying to access the profile/tracking page requires sometimes 3 or 4 tries, if it loads at all. It was working great with IE until just after Christmas. The rest of the site loads quickly and links seem to work fine with both browsers, but without the profile page and the tracking, I'm afraid the rest is basically useless to me.

Hi Caroline! Thanks for bearing with us while our tech team works on this bug. However, the tracker feature you're referring to (involving it not saving what you're marked as watched) is only a recent problem that began in the past 2 weeks. Are there other issues with the new site that you're still having trouble with?
