Watched "check mark" keeps switching back to Watched?

Everything I marked as watched is unwatched at next login. Very annoying. This used to happen before the last update and now it's happening again, every time.

Thanks for the report, Erin, agreed that's no fun! I'll test it out on Firefox since it looks like that's what you're using, but I just wanted to check that you don't accidentally have 2 accounts - one a created SideReel username and one a Facebook connected one - as it seems sometimes users will accidentally do that and run into this kind of confusion because they didn't realize they were on 2 different accounts. If that's not the case though for sure, I'll see what else may be going on!

Could that be it? I connected to Facebook when that option became available, but I didn't create a new account. I'm also not signed in to FB very often and I know the watched list used to work when I wasn't. Anyway, I just signed in and everything was fine this time. The last show I watched was still marked as such.

I'm wondering now if Sidereel is more compatible with IE. Until recently I was using IE mostly, because I had too many Firefox tabs opened for any videos to run smoothly. But the latest Firefox update has made it much faster.

And thank you, Kendra, for the fast response. I become more fond of this site every day, even though there's the occasional glitch.

Hi Erin, as long as you clicked to connect with Facebook when you were logged in on SideReel, that should've made it connected to your existing account which means everything should be the same for you on SideReel whether signed into FB or not, aka that's just one account.

You can check to see if you have 2 accounts by accident by logging out of your SideReel account, logging in on FB, then visiting SideReel again. Then click 'My Tracker' and if the username in url of that page is the same as your regular SideReel username, then you just have the one account. If it's not the same, then that means you do have a 2nd account which I can tell you how to disconnect from FB if you're interested in doing so.

As far as SideReel compatibility with browsers, it's actually much better on Firefox, Safari and Chrome than IE, so you should be having better luck actually with everything working on FF vs. IE.

I am having a similar problem and my facebook acct is NOT connected to my sidereel acct. Only for me I click on watched shows and when sidereel refreshes all on its own (which it does constantly) it shows that instead of watching the first three episodes of medium, that I watched the first four seasons, and all of the shows are unmarked. When I click on the seasons to see if I had watched them the mark that I had watched the season goes away, and there were never any marks on the shows except the first three (well now the first four - and it's still having this problem).

I hope that this feature is fixed, because if this is not telling me the episodes that I've marked watch and telling me that I've watched entire seasons when I haven't then it's not effective. Any suggestions?

That's very strange - Windy can you check after the site refreshes to make sure it still notes the same username in the top right of the site? If you accidently created 2 accounts either with Facebook or not, maybe the site thinks you should be on a different account.

That seems the least likely option, but it can happen.

Otherwise, can you let me know what browser you're using?

Thanks Kendra. Apparently this message got lost in the ten pages of spam (not from you guys) that I received in my inbox.

I only have one acct, and even if I didn't I disabled all that facebook sharing everything with every site crap (yay ad-blocker!). So two accts have never been an issue.

I'm currently using firefox. 3.6.8 now, and I believe 3.6.2 at the time. This problem sitll continues to be an issue and has been.

Just want to update about my problem. I've found that if I check off just a few shows, log out and then log back in, usually everything will be fine. If not, I'll just do it again. Don't have a clue as to why. But at least I have a workaround. Oh, and I do have just the one account.

Hi Erin, sounds like it might be an IE issue - we'll check into it, but I'd also recommend trying another browser like Firefox or Safari to see if those work better for you as they're generally more compatible.

It usually depends on what I'm doing at the time if I'm using IE or not. I used to mostly use IE when I was working because it took less RAM and CPU that I needed for the three other programs I had to run simultaneously. But most of the time now I'm using Firefox because the update made it more stable and much faster even with 30 tabs open. I'm happy about that because it's my much preferred browser, but both browsers have the same Sidereel problem.

Thanks for the update, Erin. Can you give a more specific rundown of what happens for you with this issue so I can test it more? Thanks!

Thank you for getting back to me, Kendra. When I mark shows as watched and come back later they won't be checked. I used to think I had to sign out first and then sign back in, then check them again for the check marks to stay. But a while ago I realized I only have to refresh the page, sometimes more than once while checking the watched shows each time. After that everything stayed checked. This happens with both IE and Firefox and they are up to date.

That's odd... can you try clearing SideReel cookies on your browser, restarting your browser and testing a few my marking them as watched then returning to see if they remain watched? It'd be great if you could try that out in Firefox especially and let me know. Thanks so much!

Oops, this got lost in the mail. Well, I don't know if it was clearing cookies and cache that I had to do for a different problem earlier today or if it's the new Sidereel, but everything seems to be okay now. Thank you very much for your time, Kendra.
