You can assume your website users and subscribers are listening to music as they view your AllMusic site. Since your site now stops my music repeatedly during viewing, I either have to quit listening or quit reading, and the music always wins!

Hi Paul,
Are you using AllMusic on a mobile device when you are experiencing this music shutdown?   Particularly on an Apple iPhone or iPad?

Please let us know.

Zac, your website will stop audio playing in other tabs of iPad's Safari browser. (Streaming online radio while reading AMG was how I begun to learn about music, but your website won't let me do that now.) I'm also waiting for iPad to be able to stream your website's radio.

Hi RootsMusic.
This is an issue within iOS. When your device detects that there is media on our page (like sound sample clips) it mutes your audio. This is a known issue with many sites that provide media.

This forum has more commentary: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19838503#19838503
We hope Apple can come up with a good fix for this.

We do not yet have a date for enabling mobile/iPad radio stations from AllMusic.

Sorry Zac, I didn't realize that the blame should be on iOS (I was initially blaming online radio stations).  If Apple doesn't fix this problem, then I hope your app can circumvent it.

If you navigate to any of the pages on AllMusic that *don't* have sound clips (the home page, new releases pages, song pages, most blog pages, genre, style, mood, theme pages) your iOS player will keep playing.

If you go to an Album Page or Artist Page, iOS detects that there are sample links on the page and pauses your music.

Similarly, if you navigate to a page on CNN that has multi-media clips on your phone, iOS pauses the music. Example: http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/15/us/washington-rachel-dolezal-naacp/index.html

It's a drag.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Your site interrupts spotify..

I can no longer look up music on your site and listen to spotify at the same time on my iphone 5. This started about a year ago. I'm using the mobile version of your site in safari and have the latest updates of both spotify and the iphone os. Used to do this all the time before.

Holy mackerel you guys. I think we did it.

It involved a lot of nonsense and working around the way iOS reads sites with media but now you should be able to browse AllMusic pages while listening to other music on your device. Your audio will only pause if you choose to play a sound sample on an album page.

Much thanks to our developer John who muscled through this one.
