When do we get an android app? I use the site when I'm shopping for records, and it would REALLY help if there was an app.

Glad I'm not the only one. I've been using All Music for a LONG time, and am a huge fan. I just also want to be a fan on my phone... I think they even have an iphone app.

I have asked few months ago and here is the answer:

Hi Caslav,

Thanks for your feedback. We always love hearing from our users and appreciate, and take to heart, their feedback. We are continually evaluating new features and functionality. We have forwarded your suggestion on to our website development team & editorial staff for consideration.

Stay tuned. We hope you continue to visit, and enjoy, allmusic.com.

Best Regards,

Rovi

At this point the answer remains the same. We do not have current plans for an Android app, but we may be working toward a more mobile-friendly version of the site in the future.

That's a very frustrating answer. You have some very devoted supporters who use your site at home, who currently have a very tough time using your site when they want to use it most.

Are there any mobile friendly partner sites that we can get your content at?
Are there any android apps for partners that have your data?

I'm not unreasonable. I know I have only a loose understanding of the economics of AllRovi's business model. I'm also sure making an app isn't the easiest thing in the world. But it feels like there's only minimal interest in continuing the relationship with users with android phones.

I must be your biggest advocate - I've been using Allmusic.com since at least 1999, when I was in high school. I tell everyone to use it. I'm kinda a broken record about how great your site is.

Mobile is how I - and a ton of your core customer base - are accessing the web. Right now it is TOUGH to use this site by smartphone. I'd like an android app, but I would take a website that doesn't freak out when I try to navigate it by phone.

The answer above doesn't convey much appreciation. That's a disappointment.

On your profile page you can register for the API service of Allmusic.

So for those who know HowTo: Make an app, (and yes, for "iPad/iPhone" AND "Android"

Start up the good work.....

The Android App idea would be great, allow the app to scan a barcode of a cd or a movie, and the information would pull up the correct information on allmusic, allmovie, or allgame.com

Thanks Michael
Keep up the good work, i like the new beta!

I would really love to have an android allmusic app.
I've used the website for years. It would be nice to have info anytime when I want to know about an artist, song or album even if I'm not an iFan.
I'm sure your advertisers wouldn't mind.

How tough can it be?!
It is the 21st century, right?

IMDB has one.

Hi Jeff,
AllMusic is still not planning on offering an Android app. However, we'd like to build out a mobile optimized version of the site, which would benefit users regardless of who made their mobile device.

Thank you for using AllMusic!

Discogs lacks the extended info on AllMusic (IMHO). Can't wait for the mobile site if not an Android app, which would be better.

It's really frustrating to go to shows and record shops/fairs and see people using the slick Allmusic iOS app and be using the OS that has the biggest market share and it not be available. It's 2013. Android isn't a wait-and-see OS like Windows anymore.

Hi John,
We'd like to offer a mobile version of the site, but because we have a very long wishlist of things we'd like to do and very limited web development resources, we have to prioritize our feature planning. Some new features are rolling out to AllMusic very soon, and after that we'll go through our wishlist and see which features shake out as highest priority.

Thanks!

i appreciate what you are saying Chrysta but as Patrick says below, in this day and age with a significant amount of access from mobiles, this should really be your priority.
I get why you aren't doing an android app - you probably have an exclusivity deal with apple - but to not have a mobile site is imo very poor, especially as the main site has a lot of graphics etc that make it slow to load.

This site is the imdb of music and is my goto site for finding out about music i'm not familiar with - but at some point somebody else is going to make an app or a mobile site and cut you out of the market - get in there first before its too late.

Been going to your site for decades. Android outsells IPhone in many countries
Your discography used to have everything, now there are more gaps. Still my favourite site..

Hi all,
We know there's interest in a mobile version of the site, and we'd really like to make it happen, but we'll have to see where it lands priority-wise when we go through all of the new features on our wishlist.

Thanks!

Chrysta - I started this thread 9 months ago! I've been using this site for at least 10 years, but the lack of a mobile version is really frustrating. It doesn't feel like you guys get why people want to use it from mobile.

Music isn't something that is best enjoyed from your desk - your user base uses this website wherever we go. We tell friends "oh, look that up on Allmusic.com!" But really what we want is to be sitting with friends and have your website with us.

This is easily the most desired feature by your most loyal user base, and easily the only glaring hole in your current offering. I just don't get why this isn't a higher priority...

Thanks, and sorry for the frustration. I've been hoping/waiting for a long time...

It's all said in title... Opening a big demanding website like this is very difficult on mobile phones. And if you do make a mobile page, please don't reduce some of the key features like reviews, ratings AMG picked songs etc. I'm just saying you should make a version that is more mobile friendly. That is very much needed in era of smartphones and tablets.

It is well known there are more Android users than Apple. I have tried to use your website many times on my Droid but unsuccessfully due to the fact that when website comes up the search slot is too small to input information. I try to enlarge the slot but it disappears off the screen with no ability to tap on. If you can pander to Apple there is NO reason you can't please Droid users. I have used your website for over 12 years. It took me a while to get use to new format, (old one is still better). Time to step it up!!!

It is without a doubt a no-brainer to create an Android app (or make the website work for ALL mobile devices.
Without any other compelling information in the responses from employees, I have a sneaking suspicion there is another reason.
I suspect AllMusic has an exclusivity contract with Apple to provide information only to iTunes store and Apple devices. The iTunes store used to show that the artist information was from AllMusic, but it's not as obvious now. You can still look up the artist info and see that it matches word-for-word with the information on the AllMusic site. (I did that just moments ago!)
If that really is the case, don't hold your breath for an Android app. It's a shame, since I've been using Allmusic for ages, but the time I most need the info is when I'm actually at the store with my phone, wanting to make a purchase...
