Hi there,
I hope you'll see our "Editors' Picks" as a kind of improved "Album of the Day" feature. It is at the bottom of the page and we're showing a new one every day (with yesterday's pick in the middle, and two days ago on the right side).

Our editors are including a little bit of text around why they think the album is worthwhile...hopefully you'll be able to find some gems in there.

Wondered whether that might be the replacement for AOTD. I like that blurbs are now included! Mainly hope that this feature will continue to include older stuff (30-60 year old releases--classics) and not just become a dumping ground for the new release reviews. Always like fresh takes on older material! Mainly loved the old AOD for reminding me of stuff I was listening to 20-30 years ago! Aah, nostalgia for the old fogeys.

Agreed. We're leaving it up to our editors to pick the things that they're into....some will be the new album they picked up, some will be missed classics (like the live 1975 Doug Sahm recording we've got up today).

I don't see the need for listing new albums since you can go to recent releases and sort by editors picks. I like the concept of AOD as a way to feature older albums.

I totally agree. The great thing about AOD is that it features albums from all periods!

I leave that up to our editorial staff, but I will pass your requests along. We have featured albums from all eras in the recent weeks, and coming soon we have picks that are '80s punk, '50s R&B, '60s and '70s country and free jazz from 1969. Keep coming back and you'll get a glimpse of whatever our editors are into (new and old).

Thanks. I do like the fact you show three days of history so if you miss a day or two logging on you won't miss what the AOTD was.

Will the Album of the Day be stopped with the new site design? I love that feature and would really miss it.

People, who're regular visitors, are bound to whine, and I'm no different. Although I'm open to change, I'm not particularly impressed with the new design. Nonetheless, if you do switch to it – and chances are you will! – please retain the album of the day section. I love it – it's helped me discover a lot of awesome new music.

For what it's worth, I would have figured out that "Editor's Picks" was the new "Album of the Day" if they had been the same album.

Hey EvilGnome6,
We took your advice and now the Album of the Day is now synched up with our Staff Picks.

Thanks for the feedback. I think this will help give clarity to other users.

Is it just me or are the staff picks far more heavily biased to new releases than the AOTD picks used to be? There's already a lot of attention put on new stuff on the front page:

"featured new releases"
"recent releases"
"Recent Editors' Choice Selections"

All of the front page content is directed at what is new. One of my favorite things about the AOTD is that it was usually an older classic or an underrated gem that would otherwise never get the spotlight.

Sigh. Allmusic has now joined the list of sites who have designed themselves into gossip sites.

Does anyone have a link for a real music site, now that allmusic has decided what we want are shallow celebrities? Thanks in advance.

Please bring back the Album of the Day feature. It was a great tool for discovering new music, especially stuff outside of one's realm of listening, and it helped introduce me to a wide variety of artists.

No, it's still there, it's just called "Staff Picks" on the homepage. Happy clicking!
