Blown Tweeters on Alto TS315 - less than 3 mo old (only used 4 times)

We just bought 2 x TS315 - and after only maybe 15 hours of total playing time on 3 gigs, the 2 Tweeters Blew - blew out in middle of our 1st song last night, and the tweeters were dead. Volume was at 12 o'clock, small venue, sounded great till they blew. We are baffled at why and how both blew for seemingly no reason. All wiring was checked, use balanced XLR - very unhappy with this as now we feel the product is so unreliable we'll need to keep extra speakers or extra tweeters in stock to replace. In the middle of show?! NOT GOOD. Filed a claim with support, waiting to hear back. Speakers are only 45 days old (bought April 2019) - wished i could go back to the TS312's now and get away from the 315's. Too many people on the web have this tweeter issue.

  • I have said many times the name Alto Professional doesn't live up to its name, all that's been said by the supposedly 'service teem' is 'HAVE IT SERVICED" really, how can servicing the whole speaker solve the hundreds of complaints for the same problem, when its simply INSTALL AN ADEQUATE COMPRESSION DRIVER IN THE FIRST PLACE, even the woofer is cheap, you get what you pay for, a good looking cabinet with non professional drivers, if they choose even mid priced brands like Eminence, PD, EV, JBL, RCF, Beyma, 18Sound and Fane drivers you would have half a chance but no they use unbranded drivers that are cheap as chips, I know this because I have repaired them many times, as I said you get what you pay for, why do you think that HK and d&b audiotechnik costs 3 times as much, FBT and QSC just over twice as much, simple they will last because they have far better drivers fitted. So take them back, get your money back or upgrade to professional brands.

Sorry to hear that, I have escalated your case to our support team. You should have definitely gotten significantly more use out of your speakers, A representative will reach out to you later today with some further information!

  • To be fair, all speakers that are in competition with around the same price point, seem to have issues. QSC are double the cost and I'm not considering them in the same category as they are double the cost and offer even less.

Mackie Thump 15A's, Electro Voice 15" version, Alto TS315, and JBL EON 615. WIthout a doubt the Mackie's sounded the worst. The Electro Voice sounded the best and the ALTO TS315 sounded the second best.

When I shopped online for the Electo Voice I noticed a TON of pre-owned and refurbished current model speakers. Then I found a YouTube video showing the inside of the EV and it has 220W total, not anywhere close to what it's advertised. People complain that these don't have enough power to fill a room. The other complaint is that when driven lightly with instruments, the amp emits a rattle sound due to a trap door design. But mainly it's the lack of power that drove me away from them.

The JBL EON's had me paying for things that I didn't need and I read that IF a part goes out, they can't be serviced without shipping them to an authorized service center due to the way they are assembled.

I was almost sold on the ALTO's TS315 but then I read that a ton of people have had blown speaker issues and they said that hopefully the 315's will be better. But the 315's have much more power so even if the drivers are improved, it'd have to be majorly improved to support the new power. Then I started reading reports of blown woofers and now I'm reading about blown tweeters as well.

I ended up going with what I didn't want in the first place. I bought a pair of Mackie Thump 15A's. My complaint was that they sound really compressed but I'll adjust that on my controller. Also I've read that the Alto 15" drivers don't put out much bass and I want bass from mine. I don't know if I'll be happy with the Mackie Thump 15A's or not, but I got them at a cheaper price than the Alto's and I'm not scared as much about blowing them up.

I'm on here because I did buy one ALTO product, the ALTO TOTAL bluetooth adapters and I'm having issues with them. I'm on here for help but I saw this article and I had to comment. Honestly I don't think they is a good pair of active speakers for $700 a pair, but I went with reliability (hopefully).
