This is normal fan behavior on the TSSUB18?

Hi, I just brought home a TSSUB18. I noticed that upon plugging it in and flipping the switch to on, the fan initiates immediately which does indicate normal behavior to me. However, shortly later the fan stops and then starts repeatedly with a grinding-like sound (as if its rubbing onto something). I don't know if this is normal behavior but it is making be feel very cautious and concerned. I've made a video recording to better describe my situation. Any ideas, anyone? Please let me know soon! It would be a shame to not use the sub for the upcoming LDW.

  • Hello Charles,

Thanks for the post. I'd like to help! The fan operates as needed to control the internal temperature of the amplifier. There are component tolerances which cause small variations from unit to unit. It is normal for a unit at room temperature to have the fan spin slowly, or not at all, or to stop and start. It is normal for this to vary slightly from unit to unit. It has no impact on the performance of the product.
