Schedule delay in reporting

All:
So we're having some weird issue.
We have a thermostat that has a schedule set through the ecobee web-interface.
We also have a program that via API showing the current status of the thermostat.
For some reason, when the changes occur through the schedule, we get an updated revision about 9 minutes after the schedule went into affect.
We can see that the thermostat changes the temperature on time but the API doesn't show a new revision until 9 minutes later.
Any thoughts as to what is going on?
Everything is working well under any other scenario, it's just the schedule events that are delayed.

Thank you!

  • There may be caching at play in this situation. It is something we are actively working on resolving in the future. The delay should not be longer than 5 minutes, however.

Which temperature are you not seeing in the API? The desired temperature or the actual?

  • MarkK, thank you for your quick reply.
We do see the temperatures in the API just fine, it's the revisions that aren't updating on time to tell us to get the full update.

We've measured the delays and the maximum we've seen was 9 minutes.
Any idea when it would be resolved or if there is anything we could do on our end?

    Thanks,

  • This is a side effect of a distributed environment on our side. We are looking at replacing our caching strategy because of situations such as this. I don't have an ETA on when that will go in as the project is fairly involved. We'll put it in when we are satisfied with the results.

On your end, you may want to double check that the thermostat's Wifi connection is stable. If the thermostat is reconnecting a lot, it will take a long time to transmit the data to our server which might result in a delay you are seeing.

You can email or call into our support and they can check whether the thermostat is reconnecting.
