Enabling Immersive Mode for KitKat

Hi, I need to enable KitKat Immersive mode. I have tried many different ways, and can't seem to get anywhere. The latest hope was with this plugin: https://github.com/toluhta/Immersify/....

I have followed all the steps outlined in this document: http://devcenter.appery.io/documentat...

However, it is a bit difficult to know exactly what to do when the developer of the plugin has not nicely named the JS file, the Java file, and the feature with the same name like "Beep". I tried various combinations of things, but I just cannot get the project to compile.

I have shared the project with you called "TopHat". Can you please take a look and tell me why it won't compile?

Thanks,
-Kal.

(Or, if you have a different way to get Immersive mode to work, I would be happy with that as well!)

  • Hello Kal,

Unfortunately adding plugins are outside the scope of our support.

  • Evgene, I understand that. However the question is really not about the plug-in as such. This is just my latest attempt at getting Immersive mode to work in KitKat on the Appery system. It appears that this is impossible. Can you confirm that, or give me a way to achieve the immersive mode? This should not be outside of the scope, I would think.

    Thanks,
    -Kal.

  • Hello Kal,

If the plugin is correctly configured and working, then it will work in your application. The basic method for adding plug-ins you've already seen:
    http://devcenter.appery.io/documentat...
    • Thanks, I already know that much ;)

Problem is that the build system just fails with "An Error Occurred", which is not very helpful in debugging the problem. I was hoping that someone with the access to the actual compiler error log can at least tell me the specific error that occurs, so it gives me a clue. But, I guess that is not within the scope of what you do.

Appery is very frustrating. When it works, it is great. When it fails, you are left wishing you had chosen a different system...

  • Hello Kal!

We can post error log here if you provide us with your project guid.

  • Just to keep everyone informed... was able to get the plug-in to work successfully in the project I shared above. HOWEVER, it only builds if I export it to Eclipse first, then build it there. If I use the Appery builder, it gives a bunch of errors like:

    Cannot find symbol class View

Of course, I made sure "import android.view.View" is in the imports section of the Java file, so the error makes no sense.

So, for now, I am just exporting and building, and that works fine. Hopefully, the build bug will be fixed soon. I believe Appery engineering is aware of this.

    Thanks,
    -Kal.

  • Hello Kal,

According to the logs you have an error in the file config.xml.
Some tag is not correctly written or is erased. Please check
/config.xml:105: error: Error parsing XML: mismatched tag
