If you can not login to PlannerX with your Basecamp details, first see if you can login to Basecamp with those details. If you can, check if you have API access enabled.

1. Make sure you have API access enabled in your Basecamp account. To confirm, go to Accounts / Billing page in your Basecamp login. Enable API access if it is not. Only account owners can do this. If you are not the owner of your Basecamp account, please ask the owner to enable API.

2. Use your Basecamp site domain name - just the name.basecamphq.com part in Basecamp URL. A valid Basecamp URL is plannerx.basecamphq.com, not plannerx.basecamphq.com/login

3. Use correct username and password.

4.If none of this solves the issue, report a new problem with details of any error messages you may be getting.

Thank you.

Hi Joshua,

Does it work for you now? There are two login screens. On the first, you need to enter your PlannerX login information. On the next screen, enter Basecamp login information.

Basecam URL should have just your basecamp domain name. E.g. "plannerx.basecamphq.com"

Please select "Do you use SSL with Basecamp?". Basecamp has made SSL default on all paid accounts.

Please send an email to support at plannerx dot appsmagnet dot com if you continue to face problems.

Noticed that Joshua could login to PlannerX well.

As of now, there are no known issues with logging into Basecamp.

You can not use OpenID with PlannerX yet. OpenID integration is on our plan!

I've used the openid username and special password that basecamp gives me to integrate with 3rd party products...

The login then gives me the following message: "problem: No projects found. Please create a project on basecamp and try again" - I do have projects in there. Is this a symptom of the openid username.

Also.. I am using the projectpath path instead of the basecamphq path.

Hi Taylor,

We have not yet tested OpenID with PlannerX. The no projects message could be due to our non implementation of OpenID authentication.

As for the URLs, you can use projectpath.com or any other basecamp URLs with PlannerX. That is well tested.

We'll get a solution for OpenID soon.

We just tested PlannerX with OpenID login, and it worked!

Here's a blog post about how we tested it with MyOpenID. Essentially, you have to use your special username and password to login to PlannerX.

There are a few things you may need to take care of while logging in using OpenID. The blog post mentions them, and here they are for quick reference:

Here are a few things to check if you can't login using OpenID.

  • Are you using your special OpenID username and password? Remember, it's not your OpenID URL that you can use, you need to use the special username and password. The password will be some combination of characters and numbers.

  • Are you using your correct Basecamp URL? Again, this is not your OpenID URL, but your Basecamp URL - it may look like yourcompany.basecamphq.com or yourcompany.projectpath.com

  • Have you enabled OpenID access for this user? Confirm by logging in with that OpenID to your Basecamp project. Does it work?

  • Do you have projects assigned to this user? If you have no projects assigned, you will get a "No projects found" message in PlannerX.

  • Does OpenID login work with some other Basecamp Extra that uses Basecamp API?

If can login with this, let us know. If you can't still login, let us know the details!

Thanks.

(Feels good when something works out of the box!)

I've tried doing it that exact way.
The user names shows up as MYNAME.pip.verisignlabs.com
and I enter the fun little combo passwords they give me.
I also enter in the projectpath address. I'm also pretty sure there are lots of projects assigned to me - but still the "no projects" shows up. Does it maybe make a difference that I am the owner of the account?

One thing I haven't tried... is another browser - using omniweb... shall try firefox.

Thank you.

I have figured out the issue and a solution!

Being that I am using "ssl" i need to type
https:// before basecamp ID.

That should help out.

Another issue: Gantt chart views are not working.

Hi Taylor,

So setting https:// URL worked for you, correct?

As for Gantt chart view, can you describe what happens when you click on the Gantt chart icon? I just tried it and it worked. One thing to take care of is that if you change the plan, you will need to save it before you can see the Gantt chart. This is because Gantt chart requires valid IDs and new items entered don't have IDs until they are saved.

Could you let us know?

Here's a quick summary of issues with logging in to your Basecamp account via PlannerX.

  • Ensure you tick SSL option if SSL is used on your Basecamp account. All paid plans have SSL on by default.

  • You can continue logging in with your Basecamp username & password. If you wish, you can also login with the "token" for third party applications. You can find it under your profile information. Use token as username and "X" as password in such a case.

  • OpenID works. If you are using OpenID to login, you will have to use the third party access token as username and "X" as password.

  • Make sure you have API access enabled. You can do that from your "Account" page.

Hope this helps.

Hi Joshua, Ben,

Can you tell us more about the problem? What browser are you using? Do you see any error messages? Can you create an account for us on your Basecamp system, so that we can also try what could be wrong?

I tested it yesterday with Firefox, Safari and IE and login was working. May be there is something specific with your type of accounts that we need to handle.

Ben: You also mentioned you were able to login earlier. Where does it stop now?

We really want to solve this show stopper issue for you. But will need your help to learn what's really going wrong. May be we can do screen sharing to understand and resolve this.

Please create an account for us on your Basecamp. You can use support at appsmagnet dot com as the email.

Let us know.

I am glad we could fix it so quickly! One of the quickest fixes for us too! We could spot it since you invited us to your Basecamp account.

We also improved the login screen a bit along the way. Made it easier for people to enter their Basecamp URL.

Joshua, let us know if you still face login issues. If you do, please invite us to your Basecamp account and we can take a look.

Thanks.

We are experiencing the same problem with the bookmarklet. The steps to reproduce the problem are

1) install bookmarklet per instructions, on FF 3.6.3
2) login to Basecamp
3) Select a project, click milestones tab, then click PlannerX bookmarklet
4) Login to PlannerX with "remember me" selected
5) fill out PlannerX login to Basecamp form using either email address or API token, password, and subdomain. Also attempted prefixing subdomain with https://
6) Selected SSL and Remember Me tick boxes
7) Submit and we are redirected to steps 5-6 in an infinite "do loop"

The bookmarklet idea seems brilliant as it would save enormous time going back and forth. However, as it currently stands, does not work. Please let us know what additional information we can provide to help you diagnose the root cause.

I updated the logic slightly. Can you try again now?

If it still does not work, session cookies are not being saved correctly.

Are you on Windows or Mac? I tried with Mac Firefox 3.6.3 and it worked for me.

Sorry about that. But I just checked and it's working. Can you send an email to support at appsmagnet dot com? We can possibly do a screen sharing session and determine what the problem is.

Thanks.
