Upgrade fales

I was trying to upgrade the planning module from 1.1.11 to 1.2, following the instructions where I just replace the module files (both in app and public directories) and immediately every page of ActiveCollab started generating errors and wouldn't display.

After an hour of troubleshooting, I figured out the following settings need to be defined in the database FIRST!!!!

planning_work_hours_per_day
planning_work_days_per_week
planning_work_hours_per_month
planning_enable_notifcations
planning_date_format

You really should fix your upgrade process/instructions! Most users would not have been able to troubleshoot and fix this!

Hi Anthony,

Sorry for the trouble. The upgrade instructions mention that you need to upload / overwrite the files and Uninstall and Install the module from ActiveCollab administrator.

Installing the module creates these entries in the database automatically.

activeCollab does not have a module upgrade process yet - the only way is to uninstall and install. We are limited by it for now.

Thank you for bringing this up. Some users may indeed face this. We will add a note to our upgrade instructions not to forget the uninstall / install step.

I hope things are working fine now. I still recommend uninstall and install from activeCollab admin.

I did follow the instructions as you said. I overwrote the existing files with the new ones, and immediately I started getting the errors with ActiveCollab. I was never able to proceed to the uninstall step. Once I created the db entries I was then able to uninstall/install.

I suggest that you recommend people uninstall their existing module first.

We have updated our Upgrade instructions to stress on Uninstalling the module first. Then uploading files via FTP and then Installing it from aC admin.

Thank you for bringing this up Anthony.
