A concern for "New Games" section of beta home page.

  • Problem
  • Updated 3 years ago
One thing I really liked in the old site format was how, in general, the newest games always came up in the "new" section of the home page. the new site has a similar section, but the games appearing in it are simply the most popular of the recent games. For example, I saw Fisher-Diver and thought it looked like fun, but decided to check out the beta site first. I could not find it again anywhere on the home page. I returned to the old site so I could play it and really enjoyed it.

My favorite thing about armor games is that I can visit the site every couple of days and there's always something new. The beta site seems to make noticing these day-by-day additions more difficult.

I totaly agree with Hal. The main reason why I like armor games is the constant flow of new, rather unknown games. It would be a patty if this would disappear with the new homepage.

But I have to admit that the looks of the new site are awesome! Good job!

I agree as well, and assuming this is taken into consideration, there is also the problem that with the new set up there would only be a few new games showing, thus to actually get to see all new games, one would have to visit more often than what is necessary right now

I like the old design because I can see all of the new games with ratings easily. The new site is just a complete Kongregate rip off complete with the annoying auto-scrolling banner. I used to play everything on AG but been an addict to getting Kong badges. Remove the only thing that keeps me going to AG and there will be no reason for me to come back.

I don't like the Kongregate home page because the banner is annoying and you only see three new "hot" games, and come to AG for this reason.
Ripping off your main competitor is never a good idea.

This is the only reason why I ever bothered to come onto armorgames, too get to see all of the new games. No matter the rating. This had better be dealt with and also the fact with how AG looks more like Kongregate :/

I was about to make this same post, but it seems plenty of other people have the same concern.
I rarely if ever used the game browser... afterall I've played most of those games before... I want to play the new games and need a new game list to do that.
I don't want to have to dig through a bunch of categories just to find the few new games...

I generally went to AGv2 so that I wouldn't have to check a zillion developers websites to tell if their game is out yet.

Obviously, a new game will only be "hot" if it's on that list and will only be on that list if it's "hot"

I hope you understand the problem.

I too would like an improved new games section on the beta. It's the one feature which has decreased in quality going from the live site to the beta.

Hello Hal (and all)-

Thanks for all your thoughts about the beta. Keep 'em coming!

One of the main goals of the new site is to surface the best flash games (be they new, old favorites, or hidden gems that went under the radar and didn't get the attention they deserved). One thing that sets Armor Games apart is we don't make users search though tons of bad games to find the good ones.

The home page is one of several places we're creating to find these games (the homepage being the only one that's publicly accessible right now). Because this is a beta, we're still creating creating new parts of the site, releasing and testing, testing, testing, and refining. And your feedback helps with this.

So, keep it coming... you're helping make the new site even better.

That's not an answer to this problem...we're not talking about "good" games here, we're just taking about new games. If you want to create a new part of the website for great games, that's a good thing. But please bring back the "New games" section.

This doesn't answer the problem. We already know our feedback helps (why do you think we're here?). Please respond with an answer such as "we do/don't plan to implement this," instead of telling us why we should like the very tool we're criticizing.

The issue is the new games section doesn't update with EVERY new game. It just gives us the popular new games. The reason I visit Armor Games every few days is because of the new games (be they good or bad). Please do not remove the only reason some of us visit Armor Games.

I didnt need the "hot" games thing because i just looked at the user ratings. With that in mind, the "new and hot" thing with only 3 games seems kindof, well, like a downgrade. I liked AG so much because of all the new games on the home page updating all the time. That was what really made you guys diferent from any other flash game site, and i hope you dont get rid of it

New Site Fron-page vs old-front page:
I have to scroll down to find the new games and thats bullshit. Whereas before I easily see the 10 newest games now I can only see 3 and thats some bullshit.

Now another problem is to even find those 3 games I have to scroll down to find them (this should not be the case) it should be right there without me needing to scroll.

There is no doubt in my find that you have ripped off the kongerate design even going so far as to only show 3 "hot games". Why 3, why not 5. I doubt you will ever anything but "new games" in the hot category anyway. We want to see the new games not "good games". The thing that separatas you from KONG/newgrounds is taht you have "quality control" (or I so I thought) you dont let anyone throw up a piece of shit game (and thats why they need the "hot category" because they allow garbage) but you first see if its up to snuff.

Ugh... There Is... I Miss A New Game List At The Home, Now Something Is So Amiss... I Just Like Some Sequeless Games And Wanted To See When Some Sequels Do Appear... Help... Remodeling And Consideration Needed...
Desperate Reccomendations:
1. List 5 New Games From Each Section.
2. Not Just Estimates, I Really Need Accurate Amount Of Plays When You Check In.
3. Backgrounds For Me Like Just A Copy. I Want To See Uniqueness Like Jumbled Sets Of Sword & Shield
4. Remember, This Is How I Write Online

the new page its self is not that bad. but keep a section for the newer games, i want to see all of the newest games, they need to have at least 6 new games instead of 3

It's quiet similar to kongregate, it's no longer being unique anymore, im quiet disappointed.

You see people are looking for games that are fun with its great contents, It doesn't matter if it's old or new or exclusive what matter is that people can see all new games at once which is more convenient, Viewing more page by clicking is no longer convenient

I apologize for my criticism if it affects your creation and design

I think the scrolling featured element should be placed elsewhere or omitted and to bring back the old new games tile system. Maybe the New Games tiles go where the scrolling element is now, and make the promoted game section a vertical scrolling element.

I believe the old homepage content was better. It had the new games section where I could find new games, even if they weren't really played, and therefore not 'hot'. If you look on the old website, there is a list of about six 'hot' games, but if you go to AG often, you will see they almost never change. The new site has that same style of games, but at least they're newer games. (though, I must say, the banner is very distracting and annoying.) However, other than the banner, the looks are pretty good.
