FAQ: How does Sleep Time differentiate between sleep cycles?

For detailed background about sleep stages, check this out!

If you tap the little "i" (for "info) on the alarm set screen, we have a little breakdown of how we're calculating sleep cycles. However, it is worth noting that Sleep Time currently can't differentiate between REM and deep sleep--you'd need an EEG to do that (at least for now!!).

I think you have an error in the definition of sleep efficiency. It states: "percentage of Awake period in total Sleep duration."

Actually, it appears that sleep efficiency is the sum of the Light and Deep+REM percentages. Therefore wouldn't this be the pecentage of ASLEEP period, not awake?

True most of the time, but not always. For example, I am looking at a Sleep Lab result from May 22, 2014 where the Efficiency number seems to be the sum of all 3 numbers ...Ed

Me neither. This isn't a good answer because it doesn't tell me how Sleep Time calculates sleep cycles. It tells me instead one way to find out how Sleep Time calculates sleep cycles. Please just post the whole explanation here, instead of making me back out if this app, go to another app, search for something that isn't there, and then come back here to complain.

Sorry if that sounds grumpy-- I actually love the app!

So far, at least 3 complaints about " no little 'i' " plus my additional one involving the calculation of Efficiency. Also just noticed that the Sleep Lab listings for May 2014 were mis-labeled with a Jun 2014 list heading although the individual data items for May were correctly marked ... any chance for a response? Thanks, Ed
