I’m very frustrated

Can't download from share to studio

I have boardmaker studio and am trying to download activities from share. The activities are supposed to be compatible. When I click on download, and open - boardmaker opens up but the activity doesn't show up, just a blank page. When I try to save to the desktop - it saves as .bm2 file. When I go to open a file in boardmaker studio, the file i downloaded doesn't show up as an option - studio is looking for diff extensions.

  • Melissa,

Since the activity is a .bm2, you will need to import that activity into Studio..I provided the steps to import boardmaker .bm2 activities into Studio below.

You can import boards (.bm2), board packages (.zbp), and .zip files that were created in other versions of Boardmaker and save them as new Projects to use or edit in Boardmaker Studio.

Note: You can import all print boards and most interactive boards. Some advanced boards and templates from other versions of Boardmaker cannot be imported into Studio.

    To import, follow these steps:

    1. Select File Menu > New > Project From Boardmaker Import. The My Boards folder will open.
    2. Select the .bm2, .zbp or .zip files you want to import as a Boardmaker Studio project.
    3.
    * Note: Ctrl + click will allow you to select multiple individual files.
    4. Select Open. The Boardmaker Import Setup dialog will open.
    5. Enter a title for the project in the New Project Name text box.
    6.
    * Note: You can return to the My Boards folder to reselect boards by selecting the Reselect Boards button on the Import Setup dialog.
    7. Select Import. A Conversion Warning dialog will open stating that the files have been successfully converted and listing any inconsistencies in the conversion process.
    8. Select OK on the Conversion Warning dialog. The new project will be saved in the Boardmaker Studio Project file and will open in the Designer workspace.

  • I’m disappointed
Even though the activity says it is compatible with Studio on the share site, I cannot open it. It says I need an updated patch for Plus - but I'm trying to open on Studio. Now whatt?

  • Juanita,

What is the type of file that you are downloading from boardmaker share, is it a .bm2. .zip. zbp, or a .bpf. The activity is compatible but depending on the type of file, you will either need to import it into Studio or it will open directly within Studio.

If the activity is a .bm2, .zip., .zbp these file types will need to be imported into studio.

If the file type is a .bpf (this is a studio project file) this will open directly in Studio.

  • I am a new user, and I encountered this problem. I think it is awkward that you can't access "file" from the main screen. You have to somehow know to press "new activity" (even though your real goal is to open an existing one) and then you have access to the "File" menu.
