I’m frustrated

Can't open downloaded interactive boards

I have downloaded several interactive boards for use in BMPlayer and I cannot get them to work. I am saving them to "my boards" and when I go through "my documents" and then "my boards" I see that it is there. But, when I try to open it via BMPlayer , "open a board, it is not there. I have BM Plus 6.1.4, so it should open zipped files, right? any help would be appreciated.

I too have the same problem. I have tried just opening it up in PE (as the Activity says it needs to be extracted in PE prior to editing) and when I click on PE (link above the Activity), nothing happens. I have downloaded the file onto my computer under "my boards" and try to open it via BoardMaker Player, but it does not show up as the file type is odd. It is not a BM2 file like the other BMP files, it just says 'boardmaker'. This is the 2nd activity I have tried to download and it too is the 'boardmaker' file type. What am I doing wrong? HELP!

  • This is a very common question. The key is that Boardmaker, Boardmaker Plus!, and the Boardmaker Plus Player can only open BM2 files (individual boards). But when people want to share a bunch of related boards, they package them all together into a single ZIP or ZBP file. Before you can use the boards inside of the ZIP or ZBP file, you have to extract them into a directory.

Elaine tried to extract the files from within the site and it didn't work. That is a bug we are working on fixing. But it's pretty easy to extract the files right on your computer. To see an article that explains how to do it... click here!

I have unzipped all the files and was able to open them under the menu "Open a Saved Board or Add-On". But I am only opening them one file at a time. I still cannot get them to link to each other. Please help.
Your answers pertain to the unzipping process only...but what next???

  • Lilian,

What you want to do is locate that ZIP file and right-click and choose "Extract". It will ask you where you want to put it. Give it a new, empty folder and it will uncompress all the files and put them in there. Now you should be able to look through that new folder, find the main board and open it and everything should work as intended.
