How do I make a file I've created on Boardmaker Online downloadable?

I've created a couple of boards that I want to download, but there is no Download button.

  • Currently we do not offer a way to download activities created in the online editor. We plan to add that option at some point, but it will download the activity in Boardmaker Studio format. For now, you can easily print, share, and edit the a activity online... so there shouldn't be a lot of reasons to download it.

    • Hi Bob,

we were a part of a district account but our team is not continuing their membership. Therefore we made our own personal account however the boards we made are on the district account. If we were able to download them and put them on the new account that would mean we wouldn't lose all our boards. We can put them in our activities on our new account but we are unsure once the district account has expired if all the boards will disappear as well despite being in our new account under activities.

      Thanks

  • Thanks for replying to my question.

The reason I need to download it is because I work for a Children's Treatment Centre in Ontario, Canada and we'd like to take one of the boards I originally created in Boardmaker Online and print 50+ copies of it. To print many copies like this, we'd send it to our print shop and I can't really ask her to log into my account just to print off these boards.

I was just hoping I wouldn't have to recreate it. Ah well..

    Thanks again for your reply!

  • Jessica,

If you have a PDF driver installed... print from your browser to PDF and it will give you a file that you can email to the printer.

    • Hi Bob,

I have the same question but for a different reason. I am able to save to PDF when I am on a PC desktop computer, but I am often at multiple schools throughout the day and my portable work computer is a Chromebook. Therefore, I am unable to make something and print it in a timely manner. I have to create the activity on my Chromebook, find a desktop (which are rare), save the activity as a pdf, connect the printer, and then print.
Is there a way to save a file from Boardmaker Online as a PDF on a Chromebook?

  • This seems to be the answer to my question! However,I want to make sure I'm understanding it correctly. Does this mean that if I share a file created using BoardmakerOnline (district account, through my graduate program) with my supervisor who has Boardmaker Studio and a Boardmaker Community account, there's no way for her to download the file?
We've been using the print-->.pdf format for now but it doesn't work as well for files that need to be printed on legal paper.

  • Hi Amanda,

That is correct. They would not be able to work on the file in their studio. If you are having trouble with the larger sized activities printing make sure you are not using the Google Chrome browser. Chromes has issues with properly re-sizing documents of any kind.

  • I’m frustrated!
There is a need/reason to be able to download boards even with the online subscription. For one, your website loads very slowly and sometimes not at all, does not matter what browser I use or whether I am at home or at work. This makes it impossible to quickly edit a board before a therapy session. If I download a pdf then I can't edit it. Also, at times the sizing and getting things to fit on a page can be really annoying (again, doesn't matter which browser I use). So I would like a way to download boards to use in v6 NOT in studio. If that is not going to be an option, then allow users to copy symbols into other programs like powerpoint, which loads faster and the aligning, sizing, etc is easier than Boardmakers editing page.

  • I’m extremely frustrated
Is downloading a board still NOT an option. I agree that the online is super slow, so I created boards with my discs, and uploaded because of course not all the icon options are on my discs. Now I would like to download because I would like the fonts to be the same as the one I created with my disc, and online has very few font options. I would also like the option of it remembering my colors I create, just as Powerpoint would.

So, am I really not able to download?? The first time this was asked in this thread was 2 years ago. I sure hope it has changed since then!

  • Extremely disappointed in all of this. I am only staying with Boardmaker at this point because of my student's devices having these icons at this point.
