  • You can create a new group at any time. Your group can be public (anyone can join the group at any time), or it can be private (an invitation will be required to join). Private groups are ideal for sharing adapted educational materials among parents, teachers, and therapists. However, public groups provide a great forum for collaboration on a topic or theme. To create a new group:

    1. Select the Community menu and choose Browse Groups.

    2. Select the Create a New Group button on the right side of the window.

    3. Enter the name of your new group in the Group Name text box.

    4. Type in a description of the group in the Description text box. The description is important, because when members search for a group, the words in the description are used as keywords.

    5. If you like, upload a photo or graphic from your computer for the Profile Photo.

    6. If you want to create a private group, check the Keep the Group Private checkbox. Private groups have an extra level of security. They cannot be found through searching or browsing the groups. You cannot join a private group unless a member of the group sends an invitation.

    7. Click the Create Group button.

You will automatically become the administrator of the group you create. To manage your group’s files and members, click on the name or icon of the group on the My Groups page. From the group window that opens, you can manage group settings, add files, and invite friends to join.

  • I did just this last night. My group is no longer listed under my name (it's set to private). I thought I might have done something wrong so I tried to create it again, and it's saying the name is taken. That's because I "took" that name yesterday. Where is it?
