Importing images from the internet

How can I bring an image from the internet onto a board? The original Boardmaker would let you drag it in. This one doesn't allow you to do that.

  • Hello,

Are you using Boardmaker Online? If so that feature is built right in. When creating the board draw out a button. Then select the button and click symbols on the right. Once you click symbols look down at the bottom and there is an option for web search.

  • Hi Brad,

Yes, I am using Boardmaker Online. In the non-online versions of Boardmaker, I was able to just right click or drag images from the Google images search results and it would go in my board. I have used the web search option online but I sometimes need more specific pictures than what the web search option is giving me for choices. Is there a way to get more picture choices? When finding a Google image that I am needing, I am saving it and then importing it. Is there an easier way to do this? Thanks for your help!

  • I tried to drag and drop onto the button and it did not work. So currently the way you are doing it would be the only other way.

  • I’m frustrated
I am so frustrated with this exact situation. I just started a trial of Boardmaker Online after being a heavy Boardmaker (offline) user for the past 9 years. I have very specific visual needs with my students who have Cortical Vision Impairment, and the web search is not sufficient. Additionally, I have teachers that create lessons on a Smart Board, and I often take screenshots of their activities to use as a visual support for students and import them into Boardmaker. There is no easy way for me to import these screen shots on the online version- I used to be able to just "copy" and "paste" or drag & drop.

To save and import adds SO MUCH ADDITIONAL TIME. It feels like so many of the tools that I use frequently on the offline version are much more complicated on this online version. My district is trying desperately to get rid of Boardmaker and go to Symbol Stix. I've been advocating as strongly as I can to keep Boardmaker, but if Boardmaker Online will be this cumbersome, I'm not sure that I can keep advocating. Or using it. I've spent HOURS longer on the online version than on v.6.
