I purchased an ePub or PDF title, but when I click the Download button, it gives me an ".acsm" file. What is this, and how do I get my book?

The .acsm file is a setup file that is part of the DRM process for Adobe formats. When you download this file, the Adobe Digital Editions software uses it to find and retrieve the ePub or PDF book file from the Adobe content server. The book file is then delivered to your computer and appears in the ADE library. This process will happen seamlessly when you download the .acsm file and open it with ADE.

Obviously for this to work, you will need to have Adobe Digital Editions installed. You can get this free software from the Adobe site here:

Note you will also need to register your software with an Adobe ID to have access to DRM-protected content. If you don't already have one, you can create your Adobe ID for free here:
