I purchased an ePub or PDF title, but when I click the Download button, it gives me an ".acsm" file. What is this, and how do I get my book?

The .acsm file is a setup file that is part of the DRM process for Adobe formats. When you download this file, the Adobe Digital Editions software uses it to find and retrieve the ePub or PDF book file from the Adobe content server. The book file is then delivered to your computer and appears in the ADE library. This process will happen seamlessly when you download the .acsm file and open it with ADE.

Obviously for this to work, you will need to have Adobe Digital Editions installed. You can get this free software from the Adobe site here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/digital...

Note you will also need to register your software with an Adobe ID to have access to DRM-protected content. If you don't already have one, you can create your Adobe ID for free here:

Secure ePub and PDF books will not work on the Kindle. This device will only work with secure books you get from Amazon. For the convenience of those who intend to read on a Kindle, we have put a link back to Amazon's site on each of our book listings to help prevent the possibility of purchasing an unusable format. Look for the "Buy for Kindle" button when viewing the listing of a book you're interested in.

Ok so I tried doing this and it still won"t open. It just keeps saying the file type is not supported or is damaged. How do I get my books?

You can download directly to the iPad, this generally works better than transferring it through a computer. To read ePub format books on the iPad or iPhone, please install the BooksOnBoard eBook Reader. This app is available for free via the App Store, or go here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/books...

To help get you started, please click here to find our quick start guide: http://www.booksonboard.com/index.php...

all epub books have the extension .acsm if you download to your computer rather than into the ADE (Adobe Digital Edition) software. I know, I've tried. Once you get it into ADE, it will also be in your computer with the extension .epub
